Dear Colleagues, Following the long and successful range of SL-Class AMG models, the ultimate R230-based AMG vehicle will start production this Fall.The SL65 AMG Black Series is a limited-edition, high performance coupe developed by AMG based on the AMG 6.0 liter V-12 biturbo model. Beyond massive changes likewidening the SL's bodywork, AMG has developed a new front section and hood and has equipped the SL65 AMG Black Series with a special, track-calibrated suspension system - without ABC (Active Body Control). These significant changes allow installation of thewidest rear tires yet on a production AMG - 325/30 ZR20 - necessary to transmit the 661 horsepower in what is the most powerful AMG ever. AMG has succeeded, through these major modifications, to save more than 550 lbs over the SL65 AMG on which this Black Series is based. This enables the SL65 AMG Black Series to be the first AMG to accelerate to 60 mph in under four seconds as well as reach a top speed of 199 mph (electronically limited).

Guys I need $600 000 AUD quickly. I didn't expect this but 10 SL65 AMG BS is coming to Australia 4 cars have been sold already so time is running out. I am not entirely sure if they will be converted to RHD versions.

Mercedes-Benz to hit new high with awesome SL65 AMG Black Series in 2009

THE most expensive Mercedes-Benz ever offered for sale in Australia will arrive here in about June 2009 – priced at close to $600,000.

But you had better move quickly if you want to buy the exclusive SL65 AMG Black Series because only 10 are coming to Australia and four of those are already spoken for. We know you would kick yourself if you missed out.

Although this is the fourth Black Series model offered by the German car-maker, the hardtop SL will be only the second to come here, following the recent CLK63 version, of which 40 came here (including eight for New Zealand) priced at ‘just’ $299,000.

Being so far away from local release, Mercedes-Benz Australia is not giving a firm price at this stage but a spokesman said that it will start with a ‘5’ and will almost certainly be at the upper end of that scale. Not that it will matter one iota to anyone contemplating buying one of these utterly outrageous and awesome devices.

I've been looking at the pictures for a few days now and while I think it really looks BRUTAL, I don't like it as much as the CLK DTM. I really like the overall agressiveness of the car but there are a lot of smaller details that I'm not a big fan of. Now most of you will probably think I'm a total nut but I'd probably take an SL 63 over it (!!!). I guess it's time to put the straitjacket back on...
