I've thought about that too and 570-580hp is a reasonable................but at the same time a sissy figure. Especially when the SL65 which will be the cheaper car, is already pushing 604hp. After all, it won't be far in price from the Italians aka 599GTB and LP640. MB always offer a lot of horse power for the money you hand over to them

CLK DTM is pushing a 589hp V8(supercharged). The 6.3L V8 is capable of similar output. 590-615hp is a reasonable window.

Well of course we know the 6.2L AMG V8 can put out 580hp, but remember this SL will be lighter than the normal SL55 and much lighter than the SL65.

The CLK DTM that showed the new V8 (the yellow/orange one) had 580hp, so I'd guess anywhere from 550-580 here.

For some reason i'd bet on 580hp. This is an SL after all and to BS version they cannot give it only 20 or 30 hp more than let's say E, CLS or ML 63 AMG..

Yep, 580, that's the magic number i think.

I bet this one is gonna be serious a$$ kicker..if not even most serious AMG ever..I´m starting to like recent moves by MB,I guess they are after Audi´s and BMW´s neck

And that's why BMW has done those recent moves, see project RFK and co. It's not easy to stand up against so strong opponents!

Really? I was under the impression that the engine under the hood of the orange 6.3L V8 "DTM" had an output of 510hp? Wasn't it just a showcase car for MB to show of the new 6.3L V8?

Yep thats the one, I remember them saying it had 580hp. Yes it was just to show the new engine. I remember AutoWeek driving it around some famous track in Germany.
