I think that this is a great refresh... I might even like it more than the old version. Although that one was classy, sometimes girly depending on the color, this one is all man, especially the AMG version.

However, as with ALL late MB's, the steering wheel looks horrid. Why couldn't they keep these ones or something along this line:

... those were some of the best

But right now I want to know more about this MCT: WHAT IS THIS?

Does it really have a dual-clutch, yes or no??

If yes, it is a sequential, right?
I can't see how an auto tranny could work with a clutch...I mean, if it has a clutch it is a sequential, isn't it?
A automatic gearbox can work with a clutch provided the clutch is electronically controlled to enable it a degree of slippage or lock to mimic the 'creep' function allowed by a torque converter.

The MCT is not a dual clutch gearbox and its not sequential. One of the little known advantages of the 7G-Tronic gearbox is that it can skip gears to shorter shift times during kickdowns (ie it can go from third to first gear without going through second) or upshifts to the overdrive 7th gear from third gear without going through the gears in between.

Isn`t it amazing how Mercedes AMG has gotton so aggressive with that rear diffuser!

Check out the 2004 model and how it has evoled to just comb through the air flow. Someone needs to post pics sometime to see these changes.

(I`m too lazy and tired today...)

That makes it two of us. Simply stunning, best face lift I have seen in ages. This makes the SL55 look old. What a mean car, it almost looks like a super car.

I dare anyone to call the SL63 ugly.

Guess that also explains why the wet clutch. A dry one wouldn't last too long with the slippage.

Re: Official Details Of The New Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Models

Luwalira, I didn't want to say anything given the massive negative criticism displayed by nearly everyone on the internet, but I guess we're part of a very small bunch that are loving this new design. I must admit, my initial reaction was quite negative, but literally only a few days later, I loved it! The standard car is good, but the AMG package and the SL63 are both simply flawless.

People have to understand that it was simply not feasible to proceed with the peanut headlight design forever. This new design direction is simply much more aggressive and 'proud'. The wide grille makes a bold statement and the aggression in the lights is simply marvellous.

Life goes on, things change; evolution determines our fate. If we stand still, we will get left behind. The new SL is an expression of Mercedes-Benz evolving with the times, and I am very grateful for that.

If it has a clutch, you can feel the gearchanges. It then works like a sequential, doesn't it?

What would be the differences between a sequantial and this 7G-Tronic with clutch? Would it feel like a sequantial, eg. the regime does not fall down when the throttle is released?

I don't understand the differences between this and a sequantial, if someone could explain it to me...And what would it change for the driver...

BTW the SL63 looks absolutely gorgeous...
I've said it from the beginning, this FL is fabulous.
