I said it before and say it again. Regarding BMW owners on m5board.com, the most common combinations the members there own are BMW and Porsche.
I think these two brands complete each others. | | | | | GCZ's High Court

Comments from the owner , M5 vs 997TT thank you everyone for all the compliments. i've had a chance to put 500 miles on the turbo over the past week and here are my initial impressions versus the M5 which i have logged approximately 9000 miles on over that last 6 months. the turbo is hands down the better performer in terms of straight line acceleration. i expected this since the car makes 505 lb ft of torque from 2000 - 5000 rpms versus 383 lb ft on the M5. The 0-60 mph is definitely quicker as is the quarter mile. i've run my M5 at the drag strip without the charcoal filters and my best was a 12.57 @ 115 mph. This was with a 0 - 60 ft time of 1.95 seconds, which is a good launch for an M5. Since i have ran many cars down the drag strip, i think i can guess what the new 997 Turbo will do. I think the car is capable of running 11.7's @ 120+ mph. The 0 - 60 ft time should be around 1.70 seconds. As far as handling is concerned, the 997 Turbo sticks to the road like glue, even in wet road conditions and i was extremely impressed - also, a good deal better than the M5. In terms of braking, both cars are very comparable. Then i finally drove my M5 for the first time in a week, and I realized just how much of a pleasure it really was. The M5 may trail in straight line performance and around the turns, however, if you value comfort, the M5 has it all. If I had to grade the cars in terms of raw performance (straight line and handling), and if the 997 Turbo received an "A", I would give the M5 a "B+" But the reality is, i would rather drive the M5 everyday since comfort is a factor. When i got back into the M5, i felt like i was getting into the hot tub after a hard days work. it was just so damn comfortable! The 997 turbo can certainly be a good daily driver, however, you will definitely give up a certain level of comfort. But there will definitely be days where i just want raw performance and drive balls to the wall - this is where the 997 Turbo will shine. The M5 is truly a luxury sports sedan - and it will be extremely difficult for any car to beat it in that category! | | | | | Connoisseur
