At last count Compton had 72 murders and 282 shootings in 2005. Of course Hollywood exaggerates and glamorizes the lives of people in the ghetto - but there's also plenty of truth the image people have of south central.

Quick question. How much can insurence cost a a guy like me if a drive a cheap $800 car i California?

It depends on who you're hearing it from. If you're a priveleged White kid, or even from the middle class, you wouldn't have a clue about South LA other than what you hear by word of mouth or see on the news. A Black or Hispanic would have a somewhat similar idea about South LA but it would be different for them at the same time because of the cultural experience (family members that live in the area, etc.). I wouldn't recommend trying to take a tour of South LA, I wouldnt bother going down there at all. Truth is, anywhere you go, **it can happen, just some places more frequently than others.

So..........around how much can insurance cost me annually for a cheap car. I'm right now concidering if or if not to buy a car when I move over there.

Not buying a car and trying to get around over here isn't such a great idea unless you plan on working and living in the same general area. I personally can't give you an exact qoute of around how much you could expect to pay on whatever kind of pay system you might be working on (1 pay, 2 pay, 3 pay), the best thing you could do would be to call an insurance agency here (i.e. Mercury, AAA Southern California, etc.) and ask them for a qoute. They will ask you questions about your driving record among other things and will be able to give you an exact qoute and answer any other questions you may have.
