To The Batmobile.

To The Batmobile

With the next generation BMW 1er Coupe resorting to a more "hommage" design interpretation of the 2002. BMW are considering a one off "Hommage" model that could either be based of the 1er/3er or 6er as a modern day equivalent to the Batmobile CSL's of the 1970's.

Although famously named "The Batmobile" after it's unique aerodynamic appearance.
There has been a healthy response to a sketch produced showing a modern equivalent of the Batmobile with more restrained and faired in aerodynamic enhancements. Using a new interpretation of the typical BMW "Shark Nose"
Although no engineering platform has been considered unique features developed for BMW include either Carbon Fibre or stainless steel tub , carbon fibre body panels including bonnet and door skins and aluminium space frames.

Should such a car arise then it will be positioned as the original car as either a CS , CSi or CSL , engine choices could either be four or six cylinder unique to the car with a higher PS output from the standard engine. in keeping with BMW's environmental technology fest , the car could also retain BMWs upcoming KERS Road car technology.

Although it remains to be seen whether BMW will consider a strategy for such a model yet.
But if the "2002" design interpretation is successfully applied to the 1er Coupe and Cabrio then BMW could be eager to offer another "Hommage" car.

The old 3.0 CSL is one of my favorite BMWs. Would be fantastic if they make a true successor.
