![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I should bring T. back since he worked on this car and the book. But look at the Xcoupe film and see for yourself how good the Xcoupe looks on the road. Now imagine this as a production car ? Good marketing always sells the concept. And if there is one thing we do is we always excell in this area. DesignworksUSA ![]() ![]() The "Y" if feasible for production could either be based on the X1 or take the new modular chassis from the new 1er which allows both front and rear drive configurations. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I would like to let you know that "Y" is not yet set in stone. As I said before it is an ongoing project that will be presented as a design concept. But many within BMW see the "Y" project as an answer for those that want less utilerian looks and solidity in SAV concepts. But such an idea is just an example of BMW's mission to be an innovative automobile company. Comparsions saying BMW is the new GM is way off the mark because 3 brands is enough and finally we were focused on innovative efficient model programmes when GM were lauding the next hummer variant. As mentioned before the biggest growth market for new cars will be the compact segment and customers will be looking for more choice in automotive concepts for this segment. BMW are making the compact segment a priority because of this surge for compact premium cars, The new modular platform or backbone is designed especially for this purpose every model can have a variation backbone simply be moving suspension points and firewalls to areas that will benefit each model -therefore reducing costs. There are customers out there who have become bored of what initial vehicle concepts we have and are looking for something more personal , it has to fit their requirements , but does not need to be a typical form of an automotive concept. They dont want to substitute on premium feeling or luxury and they want something that is either larger or compact to fulfill their needs. Should the "Y" get the green light then the car will be based on the 1er , be a compact two seater , Have an individual Dynamic intent, be offered with Dynamic Performance control and be powered by efficient engines from the 1er with four cylinder turbo charged petrol being the top line model , no six cylinder. Purely aimed at young customers who like the idea of a SAV but do not need the utility or the typical SAV shape. The Z2 Roadster and Coupe will again have an individual intent from both the 1er Coupe and the Y1 , The Coupe will be a radically thrilling compact sports car - a fixed roof will make the car more stiffer than the roadster. The Roadster will be a sporty alternative to the 1er cabrio , strictly for two and very enthusiast orientated. The next 3er will also use the modular platform but it's only variant would be a 3er Gran Turismo. |
