I have driven porsche turbo, 996 GT3 mk1 and mk2, 997 GT3 RS i also have drifted and raced the porsches on track. I know how i must drive porsches. I am a racing driver myself.

The 135i is a great car/engine but what i said before on the limit a NA is just nicer to drive.

If you enjoy youre 135i that s perfect nothing wrong with that.

I think people are also confusing lag and throttle response. I didn't sense any lag in 135, but the throttle response is not anywhere as linear as an M3's engine.

in NA M engine the pedal is really connected to the engine any foot movement is transferred to the engine.

In turbo also 135i and 335i engine it s not.

The new M5 is being developed under the name "Relevanz " which means in English "Relevance".
Over the current car there will be a slight increase in power but not as much as expected from forthcoming rivals or to match their PS outputs. and of course press speculation.

M5 in the next generation is to understand is such a car relevant today? and this will be BMW's technological showpiece to offer a technological kinship to the F1 programme .

As a car it will be immense and it concludes speculation over the need for a Mbased 7er model when simply there is no need .
X6 was always considered for the M badge it is just pure logic that the X5 model receives one as well.

Like every M5 generation, our rivals will have no idea what hit them, plus the performance sedan brings something new to the segment , but they have always learned that when they first get behind the wheel of every generation of M5 .

So, 2lt turbo is a fact from what I can see (so that's an answer to my question on the new 1er topic) and 2010 is the time I'll be changing my car!

From what I understood, we will see the 2lt turbo motor on both the new 1er hatch and the Coupe, but the new Coupe will debut about 6 months after the hatch (after reading Scott's post on the 1er topic).

Why would BMW wanna do that? Why not put the new motor on the new cars straight out of the box?

Are we talking about a twin-turbo 2lt motor, or single turbo??
