Regarding previous matters...

I am too busy at this time to reply to each and every complaint but I will set some things on the correct path.

As for what somebody said that I will crave the attention?
Well the forum referred to , I have not posted there in a while , due to other commitments. Although I had looked back and found the posts were in fact copy and pastes from this forum and not officially posted by me.
I dont crave your attention other for the fact that you discuss our posts.
And I am no martyr.
But I have kind of tired away from forums who set up futile petitions. I can understand petitions for and M3 CSL - because that is a genuine question , even though the answer is our direction where we want to take this car cannot be fulfilled to matter an opinion of difference with the current M3 production car. That day will come.
Petitions that want to stop BMW producing the F01 because it is ugly (7post.com) I cannot.

I could not care less the fact that you think that we are on the wrong path with our products, because I assure you we are not - we have planned ahead and the results will surpass our rivals. In the next generation of M cars starting with the M5 you will have power , you will have the car that dominates the segment but you will also have much greater efficiency than todays car thanks to what BMW are working on at the moment. The Power war is over , Some dont accept that and wish to prolong it , but BMW plans to remain on the road when everyone is forced off.

Again our plans for ground breaking defining cars suffer set backs because technology is not ready and we have engineers working on very individual and ground breaking cars . The M division for example are focused on the CS production car of the defining coupe concept. Right away that gives you how BMW are positioning this car - It wont be badged as an M car but everything from the handling , the looks and the power will be a showcase for BMW's sporty performance image - Yes, This will be a dynamic luxury performance vehicle. and I would like to point out having seen the final direction there is only minimal changes to the car but the look is exactly what you have fallen in love with.

"Never Stand Still" why?
Well in the modern ideal we adhere to where we can focus on a bigger market share. It is no secret that Russia will become Europes largest market and is where we want to increase our market share , especially for luxury vehicles. Over the past year BMW have invested quite a lot of money in marketing BMW in Russia , and it is here were we want to increse our market for the 7er in general. And yes it might have been lame and it might have irritated, but for BMW "Never Stand Still" was a huge success because the car the idea was to promote was very much accepted by the Russian elite. BMW have sufficent orders from the 7er's debut in Moscow. Although interested buyers also got their first up close and personal feel with the new 7er as two cars were available underneath the stage for a closer look.
I have said this before. Markets that are huge for us today , wont be tomorrow.

Blur the boundaries - Why?
I have spent some time with possibly the most exciting upcoming BMW car ever. The passion I have for BMW's original defining sporting projects is there in the new Z4's DNA. The new car like the old car is visually stunning but there is much, much more.
But whilst there is anticipation for the Z4 there is also fear and lothing.
Ugly , weight? and the usual comments regarding design.
I am not denying that the new car will have a significant weight increase but we have some ideas to accomodate this and especially in the use of lightweight materials for key points of the car.
The image we have for the new Z4 is that as a new European sportscar from BMW and that is what it is now , Key technology has altered the perception of this car and it is a very exciting car to look at , find comfort with and of course drive.
Blur the boundaries is to alter your perception of what a car like this should be like when you find out it is actually not what you expect.
And this I mean in a good way.

Why X1,X2?
The 1er has been the fast growing sales product within BMW since the introduction of the car in 2004. With the 1er we have shown that such a product can be adapted to individual market segments .
In fact with the 1er BMW hopes to emulate the success of the 3er and follow through with a choice of body styles to increase sales of the 1er and to make the 1er like the 3er and be a substantial profit bearer for the BMW Group. With the current trend for downsizing sales for the 1er have never been better and show a significant increase in sales.
Because of this BMW have now returned to "Put here for later" shelf for the 1er to develop more interesting variants even in this current generation, The Coupe offers the scope for this , but dont expect a fully fledged M car , (The ideas did not work) more a quasi-M car for both ends of the 1er coupe line plus greater expansion of the BMW performance line for the 1er. The next generation 1er will increase platform use with again as before 3dr and 5dr hatchbacks , Coupe and Cabrio , A Roadster that will include a variant with groundbreaking ultra efficient hybrid drivetrain. that will be available for other hybrid 1er models and turbo charged petrol and diesel powerplants.

The X1 , and X2 Sport Activity Coupe and a 1er based version of the Progressive Activity Sedan which will not be an MPV. Conventional sedan and Touring models are not part of BMW's plan as this is too close to the 3er models especially the four cylinder petrol and diesel models that are hugely popular in Europe.

BMW X1 is a very interesting car as the X3 goes a whole new dynamic direction from the current car. I would again like to remind you that over 1/2 a million X3's have been sold since introduction in early 2004 and that over 110,000 X3's were sold worldwide in 2007. So the car has been a success. BMW X1 hopes to emulate that success by entering a new premium segment . BMW want The X1 to sustain if there is heavy loss of X3 sales over the introduction of the Q5 and GLK.

Currently my work load is occupied with the Z4 and two others I cannot talk about , so I will not be posting as much. Anyway Phase II of "Dawn of a new era" approaches aswell as exciting BMW Group news in over two weeks time. Just in time for Paris.

I've been away for a few weeks so have no idea what prompted this Scott -- who complained? ...and about what or who?

I am glad you are still active at GCZ

Re: Regarding previous matters...

All that is very well
But it does not answer the issues some here had with you..
And the reason to why you said in the other thread that you might be leaving..
This just explains BMW´s plans and visions wich no one here argues with
What bothers ppl is you communitcating these visions and drum them up to be something larger than what BMW even wanted it to be..
Take for example the hourglass thing.. It wouldnt have cause 10% of the stirr and dissappointment it created if it was not for you..

So all in all i guess BMW are fortunate to have you..as you drum up their buisness on this forum beyond what they themselfs could ever do..
And i guess some of us just get tired of it time from time..
But some of us love it .. So for them..im glad you stayed..

Re: Regarding previous matters...

Actually Artist, I think we should be grateful Scott is still here ....at least he is contributing original content to this site.

Frankly, this site risks becoming extremely dull if we keep sanitizing threads by not letting people say what they really think. Too many good members have already gone or are posting less and less often -- it sometimes feels like the conversations just go round and round in circles. So I say thank God for Scott with his passion for BMW and the information he brings to this site. GCZ used to keep me up at night -- lately, it's been a great way of making me sleepy and go to bed.

Re: Regarding previous matters...

^Man 99% of the time i agree with you on everything..
But this time i must say
Ive been on since the early days of GCF through all the shit and to this new forum
One thing i learned is that ppl come and go.. The Passion of cars stay the same
And as long as ppl are well behaved and talk cars im in..
There has been many losses some wich i forgot and some wich i wish every day that they came back..
But i guess we arent doing to bad without them..
And if someone wants to leave i dont think we will do very much worse after they are gone..

PS
No dissrespect to Scott and his contributions as it has given many members alot..
And even me, in terms of fuel for endless discussions..
So thnx
