logistics and Intensity : Filming the BMW 1er Coupe

Here is a short film on regarding the film and photography shoot for the BMW 1er Coupe . As you see this is the logistical nightmare involved when shooting BMW's promos. What you do see is the expense involved of hiring helicopters with a camera , camera mounted vehicles , actors and a passionate and hardworking crew.

You can also see why I despise interruptions from photographers as all this planning can go to hell . Normally I am out of shot nodding approvingly smoking a marlboro , drinking a red bull , sitting at a laptop working. or beating up a photographer with a precision thrown plastic water bottle..

Although the end result is what matters...

Thanks for the vid. It's funny how the camera vehicle is a completely blacked out ML...LOL That's a huge crew for the vid, that's a lot of money spent.

So, which one were you in the vid?

Re: logistics and Intensity : Filming the BMW 1er Coupe

I was not on the 1er Coupe shoot as I was with the BMW M3 at this time but it gives you the same idea.

Regarding the Camera car - It is a blacked out ML55 , they even have a Cayenne Turbo camera car - The crew who operate these vehicles have been involved in quite a lot of car chases in the movies for example this crew worked on Matrix reloaded , Batman Begins and most recently Bourne Ultimatum and Transformers , after this they were beginning the Batman sequel. And of course the BMW X6.

Who "you"?

The filming crew is always contracted. It's their own filming equipment. BMW only pays the job, and sends their marketing guys (project managers like eg Scott) there to supervise the filming ... being some kind of "producers", sitting behind the scenes. And BMW "home" crew is there to look after the car ("car-sitter" crew). Basically the "home" crew is usually consisted of only a few people.

So...a new Batman is coming out...and a new "Bourne..." sequel!

That's good to know!

I liked the video. I like videos generally that show how things were done behind the cameras. They are fun to watch...and they show a lot of how much effort they put into for us to watch a 2 minute film!

It's truly amazing...well done! Good job!

I think he means the currently playing in theaters "bourne ultimatum" and the upcoming Batman movie we all know as "the Dark Knight"

Oh OK...cause here in Greece (or Europe) Bourne Ultimatum has not yet arrived...so that's a surprise for me. I also did not know about "the Dark Knight".
