Yes. M1 was a classic BMW supercar back in 70s, yet also BMW 328 was something totally different as todays 328.

It was a though decision, but 1er prevail over 2er: despite M1 reservations, and 2er advantage with 2002 (02-series) connection in name.

But the decision was consensual. No need to spend money if not necessary (marketing costs of introduction of 2er TM). So only one family / series: 1er.

Like I said many times: yes, BMW also plan great product range expansions, not only Audi - but Audi is more loud with predictions & announcements lately.

Regarding "H-series". I guess it has something to do with Hydrogen powered models. Eg. H7 , H5 etc

"B-series" has IMO something to do with Alpina models - BMW obviously want to acquire rights for Alpina model names.

Yet I have no idea what "Y-series" can be ...

so then alpina will be somewhat like what M is then?
I like that idea, it would kind of being like AMG, lots of power and comfort. That would contrast well with the hardcore M series.
The H makes sense now and i guess but we will just have to wait and see until we finally see these badges.

Any news about the 4-door coupe-sedan (F14 or 9er)?

A 3.0 -3.2 litre N53 engine can deliver those numbers- I am sure the redline will be about 8250-8500.

Do not worry because,there is already an I6 3.246 litre engine, that was delivery such numbers:remember the old Iron block S65 engine in the M3 CSL.
So with newer technologies, I won't be surprised if we see a lower displacement I6 engine with the same numbers.
The S65 engine was putting out 111 HP/litre in 2003.
If you apply that to a base 3.0 litre N53 engine will yield 333 HP. An additional 8% increase due to new technology =360 HP.
So I see the engineers pulling this off.
