i agree with luw, this is such a disirable little car. i want one too. tho the interior is a lil on the dull side.
btw i think the car looks even better when in motion. finally a vw that is sexy and exciting, hope to see more of it in future vw.

LOVING this car. I really truly want one.

It's such a desirable little car. Superb exterior design (its not trendy, its not staid) and handsome interior. Looks like a quality piece of work.

The live shots give a different impression of the car compared to the official PR photos, it looks much better than when I arrived at my first impression, and I'm a little bummed now they aren't bringing it here. I hear when people say this will take sales away from the GTI, but if they bought the car over in limited numbers I think they'd sell every last one, and I have no doubt the Scirocco would command a price premium over the GTI, but the question there is how many people would be willing to pay $30k+ for a sport hatch in the U.S.? And this is where my anger begins with the choices Americans make for for the type of vehicles they buy and drive.

I hear ya. If it were to be sold in the US, VW would only ship over the high end models which will command a 24-30k price tag. That itself is not a shabby price for a fine German quality car but in America it will fade next to the Mustang, Charger and all other American cars sold for a mere 20k with a powerful engine under the hood.

But like you said, there are those who want something different and I bet that a limited quantity of let's say 2 500 would easily find a host family.

My favorite part about this car are the door pulls. Seem like the only original part in the interior. As far the exterior, in the high end version it looks pretty good, though low wend kits look pretty bland.

Looks pretty good, now we wait to see whether or not it will come to the U.S.

Don't worry guys, we won't be faced with these problems. Such is the joy of having currency that's worth less than Monopoly money.

Volkswagen has consistently dismissed rumors the - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER would be sold in North America and now the carmaker’s sales and marketing chief has confirmed the bad news. Despite the high level of interest in the car, VW has decided against selling the Scirocco in the world’s biggest car market because of the weak U.S. dollar against the strong euro.

“The exchange rate is the only reason for not selling it in the U.S.,'’ VW sales and marketing chief Detlef Wittig told Bloomberg reporters. “This car would fit the U.S. market but at the current exchange rate we wouldn’t make any money.'’ The Scirocco is manufactured in Palmela, Portugal, alongside the Eos convertible on which it’s based.
The dollar has fallen to an all-time low against the euro and with no sign of improving anytime soon VW, along with a number of other carmakers, is planning to open new manufacturing plants in North America. However, VW’s new U.S. plant will only be set up to build versions of the Jetta and a new compact sedan.
