The E500 feels like a sports car in comparison to the low revving ML. One question, why did you go with the GL, rather than the ML? More space, exterior styling? | I tried the ML but the looks (rear end) is too abbreviated and there were limitations on the options. I test drove the GL and was impressed with the ride...it's not a S Class with ABC but it rode like a car, not a truck. I had MB wagons (diesels and gas) in the past and wanted more room in the rear...not seats but general space. It's only 3" shorter than my S. | | | | | Fanatic

It's been a privilage being a Benz owner all these years .... I had an E55 , traded it for another E55 with panorama and fully loaded , alongside I bought the CL65 , sold the CL65 and traded the E55 for the CLS55 , then alongside the CLS55 I grabbed a ML350 , then I got the E63 , got rid of the CLS55 two months after that and traded the ML350 for the ML63 ........
E63 and ML63 are my current cars ...HEHE ...Ive settled down finally !! Ive had the C230 as loaner many times , so Ill scratch that out aswell .... Havent owned a CLK , SL , SLK , or S class ...... Have fun with all those wheels... | LOL , it's not a matter of age ... It's up to you whether you want those days to be gone or back , it's up to you man , anyhow i dont know how old you are , judging from previous posts , you are somewhat at least in your 40s?
It's cool NAVADA , as long as you are happy that's what counts the most , sometimes even if you had 10 cars , you r not happy , and others are happier people with a camry .... It's about wanting what you have , kudos to you NAVADA .. | | | | | Contributor

I had not intended to announce this decision until I had a formal agreement with Greg at Westminster MB in Denver. But I have decided to shift gears and get into a GL320CDI (X164.)
Reason is very simple...I want to do some traveling in the west and many roads are gravel or two lane secondary roads which is not the best situation for a S550. In addition, my wife and I had owned wagon/diesel combos from MB before and I had a desired to get back into one. She is not here to experience either the S or the GL but would certainly approve...she loved the diesel wagons.
The GL as I said will be the diesel model in Obsidian Black with Ash Leather and all the options except for the RSE, hitch and heated seats. Build will be late March or early April with delivery in late April.
The S550 is absolutely the best MB I have owned since I started buying them in the mid-70's. I will miss some of the goodies and the ABC ride but test driving the GL450, I found the ride to be more car-like than SUV-like. 18 months of driving the S Class (W220 and W221) had been a pleasure and I look forward to my trips in the GL.
No groans or how could you remarks. Understand I like MB and want to experience all the models I can. Keep in mind I have not had a CLS, a CL or a Maybach....yet.... | I've read your posts and lived vicariously through them for a while now, but I must say I'm against this (like it matters..lol!) and I'll be kicking and screaming until you turn that S550 in. I don't think you're going to get the same, but I hope you do, ownership experience out of a GL.

Rob, I think his FC would be better with this diesel SUV than with his petrol S550. | | | | | Trendsetter
