Wow that doesn't look bad at all

I can see a CL cabrio or even a Maybach Cabrio, but a S cabrio? I would worry about the structural rigidity, weight and cost of the whole thing, especially if they're going to base it on the S600. The rumors have pretty much been more or less keeping up so there must be some truth to this. I'm still not convinced that it will be a S-Class cab though. The CL makes more sense, but if Mercedes is trying to make a statement in engineering and true exclusivity then then would be a hella way to do it.

Report: Mercedes likely to produce S-Class four-door cabrio


When rumors first broke in June that Mercedes was planning a four-door convertible concept car based on the Mercedes S-Class, enthusiasts around the globe were surprised, and perhaps somewhat confused.

Of course, the idea isn't entirely new. In the 1950s, the German automaker offered a four-door convertible called the Mercedes 300.

But more surprising than the prospect of a four-door convertible concept are reports from Automotive News Europe today that the vehicle could become a production car within a year. A source within Mercedes told the trade publication the company will produce the niche V12 rag-top for the 2009 model year. The concept will be on display at the Detroit auto show in January. And in the 1920s-1930 (even before this period), there were many convertible sedans. Ford didn't invent it either. Let the marketing ads brag all they want.
