Well, the car would probably be S based to take advantage of economies of scope and scale.

Plus, the $10,000 pricetag would push the CLS too high... it makes sense for an S though.

well CL is based on S class

anyway CL is 2 door, the 4 door Cl IS the S

yes..lol i know my friend..
but i meant that it will look more like the CL..and they will use much of the existing tech from the CL..like the pillar less windows..the seat mounted seat belts and so on

what i really want to say is that i hardly belive that MB will just chopp the roof off a S class and call it a day..
it will be a new modell based on the W220 platform..
and that is to me nothing more wierd than any other new modell they release..
so there shouldnt be that much fuss..
to me a 4 door cabrio seems as a very cool idea if its done right

If it's a pillarless Coupe I wonder if the doors are going to be suicide doors. I'm not exactly psyched by this car, but it would be interesting what Mercedes would come up with - I don't remember seeing any 4-door Coupes around, except maybe the RX-8.
