I6 3.0L, 245HP, 540Nm, 0-100km/h in 7.2sec, max speed = 245km/h, Fuel consumption EU Cycle 7.2L / 100km, C02: 192g/km, EU5

MB S320 CDI BE:
V6 3.0L, 235HP, 540Nm, 0-100km/h in 7.8sec, max speed = 250km/h, Fuel consumption EU Cycle 7.6L / 100km, C02: 199g/km, EU5
I wouldn't trust BMW's own fuel consumption ratings one single bit. BMW is all about optimizing their car's for the EU-test and getting better Co2 ratings. AMS did test on 118d, X5 3.0d and 530i and they all consumed about 53 - 56 % more than claimed. A Finnish magazine tested BMW 520iA and it consumed 54 % more. Way to go.

Yup, and the 730d will do even better when it gets start&stop function and other ED features.

For your information I wouldnt trust MB either.
Swedish carmags gets the same conclusion with MB as finnish carmags gets with BMW. But the funny part, in comparsions swedish carmags get better numbers with BMW than MB.

So dont trust MB either if I was you.

Its the same case with Mercedes. But swedish carmags get better numbers with Bimmers than with Benzes when they compare them together. So if you dont trust BMW, then dont trust MB either, my friendly advise to you.
We have had this discussion before in another thread and there I showed you guys what I was talking about.

I agree that usually BMW's consume slightly less than MB. Put the way BMW's claim their MPG's and Co2 is just way off the hook, it's in the same league as Toyota Prius. For example claimed 7 l/100km vs. IRL 10,8 l/100km.
