Mercedes-Benz USA has announced today that for the sixth consecutive year, they along with the EIF Women's Cancer Research Fund and Saks Fifth Avenue will be teaming up for the KEY TO THE CURE initiative. As part of their support, MBUSA will be offering 1,000 special edition 2009 Mercedes-Benz S550 models, with proceeds raised expected to total $1 million. This figure will bring the company's total contributions in the field of women's cancer research to $6 million.
Although photos of the special edition S-Class have yet to be released, its details have, with highlights including an exclusive Diamond White metallic exterior paint color, Sahara beige and black interior, 20-inch AMG 5-spoke wheels with high performance tires, and of course, the extensive plethora of features already found on the impeccable luxury sedan.
In addition to MBUSA's support of KEY TO THE CURE, the always stunning Gwyneth Paltrow has taken the opportunity to lend her talents to the cause, taking on the role of Entertainment Industry Foundation ambassador for Saks Fifth Avenue's initiative. As part of her role, Gwyneth will be featured in an advertising campaign modeling a $40 limited edition t-shirt designed by Karl Lagerfeld (pictured above), with proceeds of the shirt (more than $35) again going to benefit women's cancer research.
This marks the tenth year Saks Fifth Avenue has held their annual charitable shopping event. Since its inception, KEY TO THE CURE has raised more than $28 million, with the funds going to benefit more than 50 charitable programs dedicated to finding new detection methods, better treatments and eventual cures for women's cancers.
