I guess the new lights will have the kind of geometry we see on the C class or GLK + will incorporate LEDs.

I doubt very much they would do that much to the S class. I suspect it will be more like the C class.

Re: S-Class Facelifift (Spy Photos & info)

For me they are testing the new Night View Assyst. This thing is not a new headlight design, it is a new infrared vision system.

It is incredible how the S-Class still looks so beautiful and new. it has not aged at all, looks like it was newly released... Stunning car.

The S-class is a car that demands attention, and so does the owners and dual evil looking head lights would make it look more majestic.

C-class would look very nice on it as well but perhaps a little dull(?) especially when the new E and CLK will be rocking quad head lights.

S-class + C-class lights = ODC

Re: S-Class Facelifift (Spy Photos & info)

A few weeks ago I saw a documentary on 'Deutsche Welle TV' about the development of the F700...They showed some S-class test vehicles, similar to the one we discuss here, which had the F700's laser scanner installed in the headlights. The laser scanner scans the area in front of the car and adjusts the suspension accordingly.
So maybe this is another test vehicle for this laser scanner....

Re: S-Class Facelifift (Spy Photos & info)

^^Well I think you nailed it, it really could be that.
I could explain the excessive bodyroll, too...they are testing a new type of suspension:

I saw this documentary too, and it was really impressive. You saw a W221 passing a bump, of course the body of the carmoved. Then the F700, at the same low speed, and here the car did not move at all, the suspension made the big bump fully disappear.

Really impressive.

Reminds me of the Bose suspension that was presented few years ago. But it had no road scanner, and the Bose suspension had absolutely no "negative suspension" from what I saw, and it only could handle a bump, not a hole in the road. But really an impressive comfort, no bodyroll but the suspension was really really soft and comfortable. The F700 gives the same impression, very soft but without too much bodyroll...

I think the next S-Class (would be a too short test period for the FL W221, no?) will have a revolutionary suspension system
