How did they go about compiling a table of competing brands against the W221 and the W220? How could they test 'driving dynamics' when everyone drives differently, or 'safety' when there's no tangible standard to work on? | | | | | Contributor

You can also tell it’s not the US version ‘cause the S500 is renamed the S550 and we won’t get the S350. Oh and of course the new generation Smart Key, we get a “Panic” button while the rest of the world doesn’t.
New Smart Key
Previous Smart Key
Yea the comparison shows how far the W220 was behind the competition. Even in safety, that’s what MB’s are all about. |
Man that new key is nice! Just makes you want hold it your hand.

Well it is of course based on their own evaluation of compeititors cars. Not even Mercedes could deny that Audis are supremely constructed, hence they placed the A8 slightly better than the W220, which still isn't the whole truth. Mercedes knows the A8 embarrases the W220 in build quality, but they'd never admit it. Now you see they returned to their old self, look at where they put the W221 on those scales..........way to the right. It ain't that much better! Mercedes obviously thinks nothing of Jaguar. Kinda like when BMW said Jaguar was nuts to offer an I6 with a displacement of 4L. BmW said that past 3.7-8L an I6 is too rough. Ouch. Gotta love that German we-know-everything arrogance.

What does panic button do? Give a nitro boost for Autobahn races against speed monsters? | | | | | Aficionado

The panic button on the Smartket just activates the alarm/horns in case you need help and need to get someone's attention.

lol.. thats true..
volvos have this feature to.. i dont think its main reason is to drag attention during emergency.. it is pretty usefull if you parked your car in a parking house..with many similar cars..you can press it and the car flashes and sounds so that you can find it easier...
Still not a gr8 feature though.. | | | | | Contributor

Like in a airport parking lot late at night or in a concrete parking structure with poor cell phone reception. You want to draw as much attention to the situation as possible in those instances.

Still not a gr8 feature though.. | I think its a great feature, one that you'll hopefully never have to use. Using it to find your car is pretty much abuse though.
