I have always admired the work of Giugiaro but to be absolutely honest, I think Italian car design does not always live up to all the hype. Rolls-Royce cars are more often than not an acquired taste -- many people do not appreciate Rolls-Royces at all ...and I can understand that, it is a uniquely curious marque -- a little eccentric even. I think Rolls-Royce is open to many interpretations. I guess it would be fun to see some outrageous creations from Italian design houses -- good taste is not always such a big issue with Rolls-Royce and there is something fun about that.

I will say that Zagato's works are never mediocre. They always provoke a reaction. Having said that, I think they are either brilliant or as putrid as a certain Ferrari F1 driver's performance at the moment.

As for the Pininfarina-penned Camargue, I always liked it. I used it as my avatar once. The car has a Silver Shadow platform. I liked it because it was deceptively large without looking grotesquely or Americanly (is that a word?) large. The Camargue was bigger and heavier than the Silver Shadow, but I think it was masked elegantly by the design.

I knew you liked the Camargue Ray.

To be honest, it is an impressive car in real life. It is also curious that the journalists who were so surprised and critical of the Phantom's massive square grille when it was first unveiled, never made the connection with the similarly proportioned grille of the Camargue.
