I do wonder as well why Audi do not target younger generations with their products more - eg. A3, TT ... promotion / advertising wise. Perhaps they will do it with A1 ... I hope they won't portray the car with some chicks going shopping. ![]() I agree Audi (if really wanting to earn sporty image) should promote "wildness" more to attract younger buyers - otherwise - as you said mid-lifers will only be attracted. And today with leasing financial instruments etc. even young people with solid jobs can afford a premium car. Audi should go more Seat for certain models - promotion wise. Sure promotion for A6 / A8 can't be same as for A1 or A3. But now it really seems all Audis are targeted at mid-lifers or older. So, going wilder would be nice ... Yet going for it with some Concept car is hardly an achievement. Since everybody goes wild & crazy with concepts ... More will have to be done with production models ... especially low-end ones. Today eg. A3 is hardly associated with dynamic youth ... more with ... yes, chicks going shopping & socializing. Ouch! | |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Now that you mentioned it (I know I will go off-topic) the A3 is not very exciting to drive, even in Quattro form, as eg. the A4. Audi also needs to make their lower end models more exciting to drive, if they want to challenge BMW, while keeping the materials' quality high. And that they need to market heavily.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yes, first you have to know what you know. If you target BMW - than focus on BMW, don't try to be a MB as well. ![]() ![]() But Audi's curse is it's a mix of BMWness & MBness: offering comfort & sportiness, but not as good as BMW or MB do. And this is their niche. Since chasing someone else's dreams isn't a good thing at all - imagine Audi catching & overtaking BMW ... what then? Do Audi have a plan to lead? Since if you chase for decades, and then you become #1 then you have to lead, you have to set benchmarks etc. Otherwise they can become like Lexus on US market: becoming #1, but today they seem a bit lost - still copying others. #1 is there to lead, not to follow. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I agree, following the basic kid brother plot, they should find a suiting path. Following both will lead nowhere. Audi has a brand image problem and they are trying various things to sort that out, it is like they are trying everything, looking for the first thing that seems to work. I think they are missing the point. People buys a brand because it is a solid brand. They know what it stands for. They know what they get... and most importantly, their neighbour knows what they have gotten. Today, Audi, generally, builds cars for 45+:ers while trying to achieve a sporty image by releasing cars with soft front springs to mimic the feel of a real drivers car... what is that all about?

![]() ![]() ![]() | Now we've Mercedes, BMW and Audi all showing their share of interest in powerful green beast. Can't wait to see the power specification on the R8! The teaser is a rather interesting piece, maybe Audi is trying to convey the old school, "don't under estimate the electric drive power"! |
