Interesting.

Guess people have finally caught on to the car. It's not a bad car and the styling is subjective. What I like about the R-Class is the interior space, comfort and feeling of safety it gives you. A perfect long distance cruising vehicle. I guess people see that too in this car.

Re: Good January 08 for R class Sales - 02-03-2008, 10:51 PM

I wouldnt get excited about this guys. MB must have had a lot of trunk money on these last month. People don't all of a sudden turn on to a vehicle that has been around for a while. Cheap leases, fac to dealer incentive or something else is responsible. My dealer doesn't stock more than 1 or 2 of them at a time now. Rows of E/C/S-Classes, and MLs and GLs, but no Rs.

It's still a good start. 19.9% up from Last Year is a lot.

Hope the run continues

I'm going to ask a salesman at the local dealer to see what is going on with the R. Must be a whole lot of trunk money on them right now.

I wonder what MB are planning to do with it, will the the car reincarnate into a BMW PAS type of thing?? or will they just discontinue it??

I remember reading somewhere that they have "learned" from the R "failure". I don't mind the concept, but the way it was executed was not to my taste

I expect Mercedes to stick with the R, but the re-design will be fairly dramatic.

That won't help much, the problem with the R-class isn't design. Mercedes simply misread the market, the demand for MPV is pretty much dead everybody buy SUVs instead. Even MPVs from Honda, Toyota and Chrysler are selling poorly compared with how they did before the market got saturated with SUV. That is one of the reason why BMW are working on a PAS, an MPV but shaped in a new and more exciting way.
