They're really trying to push this car, and I doubt a chrome package to tart up the front a bit will help any out the door...

You know what they say, once ugly, Always Ugly.........Just the front end, those clowns really f...ked the damn car by F...ing with the front, why not a normal merc front ala C Class avantgarde??

This vehicle has nothing to do with Chrysler. It is 100% Benz. I love the R. It is the best kept secret MB has. Great price, tons of room and the best highway ride of any vehicle with this kind of size. The styling turns many off, because it looks like a wagon or a van. i believe it's a few years ahead of its time. In 5 years crossovers will be the norm, and it won't seem so radical.

I like the R-class, it looks like a beast. It really ain't that bad. The problem with it is that it has come 4 years to late. The market for large MPVs have shrunk significantly the latest years, and that's all thanks to the SUV. Moms with big number of children prefer SUVs since they are more compact, luxurious and have a much higher hipp factor. As a matter of fact SUVs have even leeched sales from sedans and estates. The next R-class better be a gigantic SAC.

The R-Class is special: it combines the car-like feel of an estate and the space of an MPV. Seating 7 comfortably in a Mercedes is a no mean feat, and if I'm a family man I'd certainly get one... Because Audi and BMW doesn't offer me quite the same thing.

great price! i dont think so ..its way expensive......styling is a big part of a car, ppl dont buy ugly cars!!!... the car is perfect except for Price and front end styling!!!!! the mpv style is fine!!!!but the front end is a deal killer imo.....

that why think there is gona be the quickest facelift of any car!!!!

btw: its a 6 seater

The problem with this vehicle is the fact that despite Mercedes going on about it being a crossover vehicle, the ''grand sports tourer,'' it's no different, though undoubtedly better, than any other people mover. The concept is simply not unique (special?) enough, and I believe this is where BMW will make sure they get it right with the X6. Nevertheless the R-class is undoubtedly a very very fine vehicle in most respects. Shame about the rather pedestrian rear end styling.

While we know sales have been lackluste in the US, I'd be interested to know what the global figures are like?

The R class is unique enough, there are hardly any of them on the road. When a chrome package is described as "exciting" and the "aerodynamic set" will give a MPV added edge, you know they are extremely desperate.
