Q7 3.6 Confirmed Despite 4.2 and 3.0TDI-Only Frankfurt Launch

It was a bit of a surprise when Audi announced only the 3.0 TDI and the 4.2 V8 as engine choices for their first foray into the SUV segment - the Audi Q7. Even the Porsche Cayenne shares slightly different tuned 3.2 with its Touareg chassis sibling. However, we've been hearing of a base engine for the Q7, at least for the USA, that would be the new narrow-angle 3.6 used in the new Passat and destined for the Volkswagen Touareg.

Its probably gonna pump out 280hp right??

Depending on the weight, i think its gonna be a pig. Im thinking it will be heavy and therefore slow with such a small engine. Whats the weight, and difference's from other SUV's in the same range?

Are there any specis for how fast the car will move with that engine. These SUVs are fat cows and powerful engines are needed for fast acceleration.

There are no specs of the 3.6 car, it is not even sure (No Pictures) if it is the narrow angle 3.6 VR6 engine under the bonnet.
It is also possible that it is Audi's 3.7 litre V8 engine reduced to 3.6 litre with FSI or Audi's 3.2 litre V6 FSI engine increased to 3.6 liter, both engines will have ± 290-300 hp.

I hope it's a brand new engine based on Audi's 3.2 lt V6 which got great reviews from car mags when they tested A6 and A8.

The Audi 90 degree 3.2 V6 FSI engine can't be upgraded to 3.6 liter.
Audi V engines are built according to the "box of (building) blocks" principle.
Most Audi V6, V8 and V10 engines can have a maxium bore of 84.5 mm and a maxium stroke of 92.8mm (93.0mm 4.2 V8 FSI) like the 3.2 FSI.
There for there is no room to increase his volume to 3.6 litre.
That means the the Q7 3.6 have the narrow angle VR6 VW engine or a reduced 3.7 litre V8 (with FSI ???) engine.

I 'm quite certain that this engine is the one that Passat uses. That means 3.6 lt Q7 will have a VR6 with 280 hp. The same engine will replace the 3.2 lt in the Touareg shortly.

I have a magazine just about Q7 and it is gonnna have 3.6l 280 hp engine.....confirmed

Is it possible that we get that engine in Greece, Yannis?
