According to Auto Motor und Sport, the diesel Q7 3.0 TDI wins this comparison hands down. The 3.0 TDI is quicker to 100 km/h (the 3.6 FSI only catches up at around 130 km/h and reaches its top speed quicker) and gets better gas mileage by far (10.5 L / 100 km average compared to 12.7 L / 100 km). In rural areas, the TDI even achieves 8.3 L while the 3.6 FSI requires 9.8 L / 100 km. The TDI can travel almost 800 km on one tank, the FSI 700 km. The diesel is also quieter on the inside at speeds of 100 km/h. Past that, both the TDI and FSI model achieve the same noise ratings meaning that this diesel is damn impressive! The 3.0 TDI costs more to buy (50,800 Euros vs 50,350 Euros for the FSI), but in maintenance costs, it is clearly lower, especially when it comes to fuel costs. ![]()

I'm sure the TDI with it's higher torque is way more suited for this model.... and that's only in term of driving dynamics and performance. Factor in the usual Diesel benefits and that extra 450 euro is eclipsed. 3.0 TDI hands down. IMHO of course.
