Flush with success after the launch of its Q7 SUV (right), Audi is planning smaller Q5 and Q3 models, according to Autoweek.

First up will be a five-seat Q5 small premium SUV, positioned to compete with the BMW X3 in both European and American markets. The Q5 is likely to be based on the A4 platform, and should hit the market in 2008.

More speculative is a Q3 entry-level SUV, which would be similar in size to VW's new Golf-based SUV due out in late 2007.

Audi is certainly on a roll. The company posted January worldwide sales up 27 percent year-over-year, putting Audi on track for its 11th straight year of record sales.

Audi certainly to be doing something right, this year alone we expect to have New Cab(Out now),B7 RS4 due anyday now, S6,S8,Allroad,Q7,TT & S3 pkus various model additions. Next year is starting to look equally busy -- they seam to be turning the heat up with model change / new model introduction.
They are even starting to let us dealers choose the specs of launch cars for new models rather than every dealer ending up with an identical car - they can be tailored to suit that dealers market.

I just find it amazing...as we have record petrol prices, congested cities, and the continued warnings of global warming, the manufacturers still continue to build SUV's so that suburban "soccer moms" can have a false sense of security in spite of often, non-existent driving skills..

thats one side of a SUV..that its a gas guzzler.. but on the otherhand.. many ppl feel safe in them.. and there is alot of space.. i think the companys are dealing with the Suv´s as they deal with the other modells.. wich is .. they make em like they are as long as they sell.. during that time they do research in hybrids.. and when thats ready they will throw in a hybrid..
now i know that most ppl wouldnt mind a hybrid suv

Mmm, quite snazzy looking impression. I can see my wife driving around in one. The X3 certainly does need more competition as I feel it's overpriced.
