Easy there Sasa, all I am saying is that to most non-GCfanatics its hard to tell the difference, not just BMW but MB, Audi, Porsche, VW, etc.
Also, I could say the same about Audi, I have no trouble telling them apart, other than the grill most are distinguishable, all have different headlights, tailights, etc. Of course you can tell the difference between BMW, so can I, as can probably everyone here but that doesnt mean they arent similar. Same goes for Mercedes, especially new ones. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Choleric For This Useful Post: | | | GCZ's High Court

Well, i know many of non-GCF that really feel nothing for German cars, but they agree with me that BMW models have the biggest difference between each other among the German trio. Quote:

Don't get me wrong, i like Audi's simple yet elegant style, but a little bit more difference between their models wouldn't hurt... | | | | | Global Moderator

I think the issue is that the Audi's front is dominated by the grill and all of the models have pretty much the same version of the grill so they all end up looking more or less the same from the front. In the case of BMW, the front is not as dominated by the grill and also they now have different interpretations of the kidney grill - even Mercedes does the same. I also feel it might be intentional in the case of Audi - they might be trying to get the same strong visual association between its single grill and the brand that BMW enjoys with its kidney grills and going a bit overboard to build that association in a short time. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Sunny For This Useful Post: | | | Advocate

Think of a brand that you're not familiar with, or don't care for. Now, in your head, try to name all the models and visualize what they look like - take Buick or Mercury for example... See what I mean?
Despite the fact that I work in the industy - when it comes to brands like Jeep, GMC or Chevrolet I get totally confused. I just don't have a good inventory of the models in my head. If I saw a Trailblazer on the road I could just as easily think I might be trailing a Yukon or a Silverado. I'm just plain fuzzy with that particular set of knowledge, and so goes for probably 90% of the public who aren't Chevy fans. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Osnabrueck For This Useful Post: | | | Fanatic
