The proportions and small but chubby shape is very appealing but sadly the front end will look very predictable and generic making this a quite boring addition to the lune up.

Not quite smart marketing move ... now both are stealing attention from each other.

I think Audi decided to present the Q5 this day, and MB knew it and decided to present the GLK just before to annoy them and steal the buzz. Because, like everybody else, the guys at Daimler knew exactly how the Q5 would look like (just curious about the shape of the LEDS in the front and rear lights, the rest is already seen...) so they were confident noone would look at the Q5 if the new GLK was presented at the same time...

It's funny that the Q5 is still so heavily camoed. Here I have the reason: if it was not under camo noone would notice it's actually a new model!

Yeah, this is a prank created by MB's marketing department. We all saw the production ready concept earlier this year. So obviously MB has nothing to lose unveiling the final car close to the launch of the Q5.
