Thumbs up Many unbadged Porsches and an Audi R8?What is this???

As I was driving today I saw a few unmarked/unbadged Porsches driving past me and since I saw 3 Porsche Panameras testing on the highway yesterday (I unfortunately didn't have a chance to take any photos as I drove past), I decided to turn around and chase them. When I caught up to them,I noticed that they were all European licensed cars (I'm in South Africa - close to Cape Town and there aren't many European licensed cars around here, its even illegal to import LHD cars). I later discovered that there were around 10 or 12 Porsches (Boxters, Caymans, a Cayenne and 911s) and an Audi R8. They all seemed to have testing equipment on board and all except the R8 and Cayenne were lightly camouflaged (they had tape over some of the lights and some wierd kind of sticker stuff on the lights themselves). I was wondering if anybody had any idea what they were doing (testing new engines or a revised model?).
I asked my girlfriend to take some photos for me so that I could upload them.
Thanks

Those 911 Porsches looks like they have the facelift - also the Cayenne looks like it is a facelift model!!

Awesome spotting... Thanks for sharing. But I have no idea, why there are so many cars of it.

thx for the pics, great find.

Looks like Porsche may bring back the red strip that bridges the rear lights on the Carrera. I think they should have done that from the get go

Those are indeed face lifted Porsche cars and all the new technology which is hiding under the metal is being tested.

Looks like the C4 models are getting the light strip:
