I drove a Fox 1.2 3-Cylinder 54 Bhp yesterday, and I just could not believe how painfully underpowered the car is. First gear does not pull until around 3000 Rpm, leading to some suicidal moments at junctions. It only pulls up hills in FIRST GEAR! The combination of 54 Bhp in a car that weighs 1070 Kilograms, make overtaking a very dangerous and ill-advised gamble!
Please Volkswagen! Kill the 1.2 3-Cylinder 6 Valve once and for all! IT'S A HEAP OF CACK AND YOU KNOW IT! Heck! Even your dealers hate this engine, and they are always advising people to not bother with it and go straight for the 1.4.
The Brazilian Fox is available with a 1.6 8 Valve 96 Bhp engine. Since the Fox is imported from Brazil, I reckon it would not be that difficult for Volkswagen to import the Fox with this engine as well.
How about a sporty Fox?
-Here it is the Fox Pepper Concept created by Volkswagen do Brazil.
It was powered by a 1.0 16V Turbo 120 Bhp engine. 0 to 100 Km/h in 8,5 seconds and top speed of 125 Mph. Sadly it was just a Concept that never made to the production line.
But can you imagine what a hoot to drive, a sporty Volkswagen Fox would be?
