Umm - what's this model for? Is it in-between the Polo and the Golf? If it's so then it's a model that's unecessary to produce IMO. | | | | | Global Moderator

It's like a small SUV based on VW Polo. I like it actually. There is a niche market for that kind of vehicle in many countries.
VW Polo Fun was offered before the recent facelift and it was very successful in Europe:
The CrossPolo is essentially it's replacement. | | | | | Global Moderator

VW beefs up Polo Volkswagen is on track to unveil the CrossPolo, a beefed-up version of the Polo with SUV looks.
The CrossPolo will be launched at the upcoming Essen Motor Show and is the successor the the PoloFun. Although it looks the SUV part the car doesn't feature any off-road engineering and is only front-wheel-driven.
However, it is 15.4cm higher than an average Polo and comes with 17-inch alloy wheels.
Special design features include metal coloured roof rails and an additional matt aluminium front air inlet.
It will be available with the normal Polo's engine line up, which compromises of petrol and diesel powertrains.
VW South African spokesperson Songezo Zibi told Wheels24 that there is no indication yet if it will come here.
"We think it would be nice for our market but it all depends on VW Germany agreeing to release it for us. We'll know early next year," he said.

I'm a big VW fan but this car is just stupid looking, pointless and a waste of time and money. Ford's Fiesta-based Fusion is rubbish, why would this be any better?
VWSA would be astute not to bring it here...

Yeah, that's discussable, in this case | | | | | Aficionado

Well, i don't get the idea/consept of those cars! Are they a kind of a more capable small family/city car or what? If they want it to be a small SUV then is it? I am CONFUSED. BTW, with the money required to buy that car, you can buy yourself a nice used E46 BMW... Why not??? | | | | | Global Moderator

CrossPolo is a small SUV capable for light off road action while maitaining the advantages of fuel economy and small size of a city car like Polo. | | | | | Fanatic

It's for posers, IMHO. Not even 4WD.
Sure, there will be a market for it - people who want something different and something that looks like they could escape from it all, etc. etc. Not much different from why large (real) SUVs sell, except that this one doesn't have much in the way of a space, seating or height advantage.
It probably doesn't hurt that it looks ok, except for that garish interior, but it's more for the idea of offroading than the actual activity. Heck, you wouldn't want to scratch your new 17" alloy wheels, or that faux metal front bash plate that isn't even the lowest point on the bumper, right? | | | | | Devotee Moderator Emeritus

This "SUV" is no more capable of light off-road work than my wife's Polo 1.6 hatch. Its jumped up looks are for city slicker poseurs only and has absolutely no rational advantage over its regular Polo brethren.
Yannis, that car is hardly better than this one:
