As for big, Q7 is the size of a S class whatever that means.
Yannis if you have a hot chick that will make the acceleration slower. Heavier cargo 8.5 sec is more realistic

Any car that's around 7 seconds is damn fast in my book. I don't need anything more than that.

In a perfect world, I would love to have a Citroen DS23 Safari Pallas, but I don't think that's really a realistic car to have 'for the rest of my life'.

So what's a more realistic car? Surely any car older than 20 years old is out of the question as it will only get worse as years drag by, so a current or semi-current car is to be considered. I'll scratch anything with two doors or something with no roof off the list, as it's just too impractical to live with everyday. Also, I'll take any car which is bigger than a 5 Series off the list, because they just guzzle way too much fuel, and seeing as fuel prices are only going to go up, I think a small-ish car is on the agenda.

So what does this leave me? Compact sedans, hatches and wagons. I think the Toyota Prius is a definate candidate, however boring it may be to drive, because of it's size and most importantly, it's frugal fuel economy. I think a Subaru Liberty should also be in this list, especially those oh-so-sexy wagons. A 3.0R Subaru Liberty Wagon is a great proposition; quick-ish, good-looking and a great drive. Another candidate would be the recently-released Lexus IS250. I've really warmed up to the design, I think it looks gorgeous. It's practical, quick and best of all, it's closer to the 3 Series than ever before in driving dynamics. But the fuel consumption is higher than I originally thought it would be.

So there's my shortlist: Toyota Prius, Subaru Liberty 3.0R Wagon and the Lexus IS250. And what do I choose? I'll give the guernsy to the IS250. It looks to be a great car, it's practical and while fuel economy is higher than I thought it would be, it's still fairly livable. So it takes my cake as the car I'd spend the rest of my life with.

If only it came with a hybrid engine...then it would be the perfect car.

One car, for the rest of my life? Impossible decision...

BMW M5.
There's a family saloon (and family is important) and a rampant tar-burner all concentrated into the most versatile 4 door super saloon ever. This is a car for many moods and I bet I could even have fun with it at a track day. Plenty of luggage room and all the creature comforts. And a V10 engine for good measure. Yup, I think it could be the one.

OR

Range Rover Sport Supercharged. Timeless design - it'll never age. Good performance coupled to a broad spectrum of ability. It's good on road and it's good off-road too. Interior is magnificent and it's relatively good value for what you get.

OR

Forester STi. Awesome performance, compact size with practical interior space and amenities. A family car that packs an awesome punch.

Then again, no-one said that my wife couldn't drive her own car, so then she can drive the SUV / people carrier. Ah, that makes it perfectly simple then, for me there can be only one:

997 Carrera S. Period.
