Most people with money go with the 3 pointed star, not because it's better, but because of the name! That's it!
I bought in to this stupidity myself when I bought my CL500 some years ago! I'm much more knowledgeable these day's, an I'm not impressed with Mercedes to say the leasted these day's! A number of business associates
of mine drive the 3 major German brands, and this is my take on the type of people they are!

1) Mercedes owners are show-off's, most don't know
to much about car's other than name recognition!

2)BMW owner's are driven people who know about car's, and engines, kit's to maximize performance, and so on-
an so on! They seem not to care to much about interior
amenities!

Audi owners are more into doing thier on thing, not to
concerned with what the next person things, just content
nowing thier driving the most comfortable & under rated
of the 3 German's!

This is my interpretation from what I've observed!

I agree with that to a certain extent. It's certainly a long shot to stereotype the owners of the three brands, but I think MB wins its owners based on its brand name... To me, the S-Class is nice but then so is the A8 and the 7 Series. It'll be immature to say that the A8 wins in some of the tests only because of its 'price' and that it gives 'slightly more value'. The A8 offers so much more than that, and so does the 7 Series, that I can't simply place one car as the best amongst the three.

Luw, the S-Class may be the sales leader but it doesn't necessarily mean it's the best there is.

Regarding the "show-off's" for Mercedes i think that could easily be said about any of the three German brands, every brand has it posers. Of course these brands also have people who are not posers and just enjoy their vehicles.

shoes,ties,jewelery! They alway's have to name
drop, look at my new Rolex, it cost me $5,000!

Thats an extremely lame post if your trying to detract from Mercedes contribution to automotive innovation and advancement. Every German marque has made HUGE technological contributions. It would be so easy to harp on about what Mercedes has brought to the table for the past 100 years.

What infrared are you talking about that Lexus was first with?

The Night View system which Mercedes offers in the
new S-Class! My fiance has that system in her 04 LX470,
which I find more useful because it projects the image on
the windshield. Grant it, it might not be as advanced as
the new S-Class but they did it years ago! I'm aware of contribution to the auto industry from Mercedes, but if
you would kindly tell me what have they brought to the
table recently ? I stated the obvious, tell me what I've
failed to mention!
