A great driving experience - 11-26-2006, 05:16 PM

the cars: E60 530, E39 M3 sedan and a brand new RX8 stock looking but with more than 400hp.

when: yesterday night, at 1.00am

why: for fun

So, you will probably think that we set up a race with those cars and i have lots of pics. Yes, you are wrong. And let me tell you why

15 minutes away from town, there is the best road in the country. Going up a mountain, with many tight turns without bling spots like Nurburgring, and with almost no traffic (at least at that time). It's my favourite because it's very safe and you can have tons of driving fan.

The E60 belongs to the father of a friend, who was away for the weekend and the spoiled little bastard "borrowed" it. The M3 belongs to a friend of his, and the RX8, to another friend. Great car...

So, i received a call at 10.30 pm on Satarday night:
-Giannis, is that you?
-Yes, but i am about to leave. You have 20 seconds. Go ahead.
-Dad's away, i have the bimmer. I am waiting for an E36 M3 and a tuned RX8. You in?
- 18 seconds, not bad. Oh, yes i'm in.
-I'll pick you up at 12.30
(phone closed)

I had arrange to go for a drink with my gf, but such an experience is more worth than a couple of beers and maybe a "crazy night". So i told her i had a stomachache and i should stay at home. Off course she asked me if she could come here (good girl) but i told her that i was waiting for my mum (she doesn't like her) so she shouldn't show up. And i got rid of her for the night.

What the driving experience is, you would probably wonder. We got the mountain up and down more than 30 times, mostly using handbrake rather than regular brakes, at all three cars. Most of the time i was the front passenger of the E60 since i am not familiar with such driving (my car is FWD), but i got to drive the car for 15 minutes and it was some serious fan. The car has a lot of power and the tires were screaming most of the times, since we did some serious sideways. The RX8 had only two seats and they were full, but i managed to get a ride in it and it's like drifting in NFS. It's for real. Sadly i didn't get to drift in the M3, but i was the one who drove it home since its owner had a serious headache after the "event"

After that we all drove to my house and emptied three bottles of whiskey, a Chivas (personal favourite but expensive) and two Johnnie Walkers, black label. (i have 10 bottles in my house, a total of 14 whiskeys) Off course, after all that whiskey noone could drive. The cars stayed at my garage for the rest, hmm 15 minutes of the night (it was 6.30am when they left). The RX8 and the M3 were picked up at around 10.00am, but my friend asked me to drive his E60 to his home when i would wake up. So after 10 hours of sleep i drove my first E60 and it's good. I couldn't enjoy it though after so much whiskey, but i will post driving impressions later..

About the pics, you know that i don't have a digital camera, and it was too late to borrow one. And even if i had one i would forget to take pics since i would have other things in my mind..

Now that a day has passed, i can't forget the sound of the engines and that drift... Unforgetable experience. Never had fun in a car like that time. Maybe a phat-cat cruiser is the ideal car for me, or i am meant to have unlimited fun with cars? Who knows...

BTW, the Mazda got away with one (or maybe two) damaged doors since it had a "flirt" with a tree... Terrible sight..
