It doesn't say what the survey is based on? Just who is the most popular?

Yeah, sure. The owners of luxury cars are surely going to participate in Top Gear's poll.
Common participants in a poll give common results. | | | | | Global Moderator

Another article with more details: Czech firm beats Porsche, BMW Mercs and Jags in best car poll SKODA cars - once the laughing stock of the industry - have beaten Porsche, BMW and Jaguar in a poll of the UK's best motors.
The Czech firm came second to Lexus in a list of manufacturers. Porsche, Jaguar and BMW were eighth, ninth and 10th in the makers league while Mercedes was a lowly 32nd.
Not one them was in the top 10 cars, but the Skoda Superb, Octavia and Fabia models were named fourth, fifth and ninth.
A total of 159 cars featured in the BBC Top Gear magazine satisfaction survey of 76,000 UK readers. Eleven of the bottom 20 models were French with Peugeot, Renault and Citroen in the bottom four in the manufacturers list.
The top model was the sporty Honda S2000, with the Lexus IS200/300 models second and the Lexus RX third.
The worst car was the Peugeot 807, with the Peugeot 307 in 158th place, the Renault Espace 157th and the Renault Laguna 156th. The readers' favourite manufacturer was Lexus, followed by Skoda, Honda, Mazda and Toyota.
Peugeot took 36th and last place, with Fiat 35th, Renault 34th and Citroen 33rd.
BBC Top Gear magazine editor Michael Harvey said: "The top car once more - the Honda S2000 - costs around £27,000. You don't get to see too many on the road, but when you do, the driver's always wearing a smug grin.
"That's thanks to this sports car's unbeatable combination of screaming performance, rock-solid reliability and built-in individuality.
"French automobiles have taken one hell of a beating this year, but with over 76,000 people taking part, this is the most valid set of car opinions you can get."
Other well-known makers who did not fare well were Volkswagen in 21st place, Rover 22nd, Ford 25th and Vauxhall 27th.

Peugeot,Renault, Citroen all are there.
Nice going for French cars. Always manage to be last in reliability. That's not an easy task to achieve.
Kudos to French car industry for making the crappiest cars of Europe. | | | | | The Photo Phanatic

I don't get it, what's the old M-Class doing there? ADAC rated it as the "most reliable SUV" in Europe and now here it's rated as unreliable? I know the W163 didn't have a very glorious history but this "poll" is confusing. | | | | | Global Moderator
