Customers change, and carmakers must respond. That's basically the point I want to make.

And I don't think the new MB designs look "American" at all. They still have that Germanic look and feel to them, albeit with a bit more soul and moderness injected into them.
I don't know cawimmer430, the W221 look japanese in the front and BMW+MM in the back, and the interior is just a 7er slightly tweaked.
The word bold is the last to come to mind. Seeing that BMW was succesfull they just copyied the recepy and put some BMW fans, like myself, in the "How could they do something so shamefull ?!" land.
I'm sorry but the W221 in my eyes is something like the ultimate "we give up"
sign.

Yea but you have to remember the X3 only recently picked up in sales. BMW had to put huge incentives on the car for it to sell at all. Dealers practically give them away and beg BMW not to give them anymore on their next allocation.

I believe you cause Mr. D (former GCF admin) had said the same when it got out in US but i thought that recently sales were getting better.

In Europe on the other hand X3 is selling much better. In Germany it's the best selling SUV right now.

My perspective is only American so take it for what its worth. I do believe it does sell better in Europe because of the cold weather and varying seasons. In So Cal it only sold with incentives. Yes it is starting to pick up more, mainly because of the good deals. It does still drive like a BMW, and many people like that plus the utility.

Believe it or not Europeans recently have started to care about SUVs which were a rare sight a few years ago. It's no coincidence that now all German companies have at least one SUV in their model range but still their sales account for less than 10% of total sales unlike US where they dominate the market (at least they did before the oil prices went up).
