Would you ever consider buying an asian low-budget car?

Here's the question: If you were looking for a low-budget, midsize yet spacious car, would you consider one of those corollas, almeras, etc or would you look for a french car?

note; this time money does matter!

Unless my financial situation changed I wouldn't considered one.

Re: Would you ever consider buying an asian low-budget car?

I'd much rather buy a French car. I know, I'm stupid.
No seriously, Corollas and Almeras are everywhere in Finland and that's enough reason for me never to want one.

Re: Would you ever consider buying an asian low-budget car?

There's part of me that's ready to snap and just get a 100% loaded '07 Civic to drive for the next 12 years. Then again, we're talking California here.

If I was living back in Germany I'd much sooner ride my bike then buy a French car, and the Japanese offerings in the EU do absolutely nothing for me. Come think, the Euro Accord is decent, so maybe I'd lean that way.

I really like the Suzuki Swift, tho I guess that's not exactly a medium-sized car.

As far as medium cars go, are you thinking in the range of Mazda 6, Liberty and Accord Euro? If so they're all excellent cars, my uncle just bought an Accord Euro Luxury in a pearly white colour and it seems excellent by all account... as for the cheaper ones, the Mitsubishi Lancer and aforementioned Civic seem pretty solid, but I'm not really a fan of anything in that price bracket.... what are the French alternatives though? 407? If so, I'd probably go Japanese....

I have owned several Toyotas and Mazda, the realibility is amazing and they are cheap to own too. I rather buy japanese than french.

Absolutely, second that! What you get from Euro Accord here for 25k is unbelievable! That would be my 1st and only choice, definitely!

No question about it, if my budget won't get me a German car, I'd definitely get Japanese.

I agree with what the others have posted. The Honda Accord, Subaru Legacy, the new Camry and the Hyundai Sonata are all excellent examples of value-for-money alternatives.
