Re: Are there any carbrands you haven't driven?

He is still an MB fan just because he hasn't yet driven a bimmer, i think that i just found the reason behind this.

PS. I have a strange feeling that if he ever makes it to drive a Volvo he will forget all that german BS and create his own SwedishCarZone

One of these days, I will drive a BMW and I will make a nice report on it. It's just that the local BMW dealership knows me and my dad as Mercedes people, so they'd be a bit reluctant to let me drive their cars knowing that I don't have the money or desire to buy one. But I am graduating college in a few days and I am looking for a job in the car business. Who knows, I might end up working for BMW.

LOL

I do like BMW, I really do. They're obviously more sports oriented than MB but my personal tastes are usually satisfied by MB. I like a car that is comfortable and handles nicely, which Euro-Mercedes' usually do so I am happy with them. One of the BMW's I crave very much is the last generation 3-Series and its coupe or convertible variants.

And I also like Volvo and Saab very much. It's a shame that Ford and GM respectively have changed these marques and not for the better. Volvo and Saab never struck me as luxury cars but as higher end mainstream cars with luxury pretensions.

Re: Are there any carbrands you haven't driven?

That's what I like about you Christian. You have a passion for a particular brand because you know what you like and why you like it. You give me the impression that you're not blinded by badge loyalty but rather have come to understand and appreciate the salient attributes and core values in the Mercedes brand that you as an individual identify with.

To me, that's exactly what a fan of a given brand should be all about and quite unlike some of our more vociferous badge fanboys who focus on the image and perceived status of a particular marque.

You're a great ambassador for the Mercedes brand and I salute you for that.

Thank you Martinbro. Those are really kind words.

My father always told me to examine things carefully before making a decision or comments, and I suppose this has found its way into my car philosophy as well. I love Mercedes, I really do, but I also like other car brands from all over the world. Yes, even Lada. The Niva is a classic 4 x 4 vehicle.

Re: Are there any carbrands you haven't driven?

Yep. I just hope you don't end up fighting trolls for other brands (*cough* like Lexus *cough) by becoming a brand basher in return..

Anyhow, I've driven: (including friends' cars, but not including test drives)
BMW
Volvo
Mitsubishi
Toyota
Honda
Holden
Mercedes

And anything else, IIRC, I haven't.

I would most like to drive:
VW (been on test drives, but that doesn't really count)
Audi
Porsche (997 911 Turbo, to experience true overwhelming power)
Mazda MX-5 (just to see what the fuss is all about)
Rolls Royce (to see how it is to drive such an expensive, intimidating and large car, not to mention to give a few friends a ride )

Hehe

Don't worry about it. I don't bash brands. The only thing I do once in awhile (on purpose) to piss off some of the more hardcore Lexus fans is do what everyone else does:

"Those cars have no soul..."

I do have the highest respects for Lexus though and don't really believe all that "Lexus has no soul" stuff. I'm also big on the new GS. Love that car.

Hey Snake, trust me, driving an RR is probably the least fun thing you can think of
Definitely an experience though!

Re: Are there any carbrands you haven't driven?

Chris, glad you're modest enough to say that even Lexus have some good points - but it really does depend if those points, and the cars as a whole, appeal to you. Not every car is for everyone.

Warot.. easy for you to say that driving a RR is no fun, when you've done it! I wouldn't want to own one, being the sort to avoid unnecessary attention, but it would be amusing to turn up to a function in one and seeing the reaction of people! I'm sure it is an experience all its own.
