of course they can, neither MB, Audi, BMW have bad cars, they are all good in their own ways. The big question is, can they pass the E90 in sales?

For example BMW got many red dot awards by Design Zentrum NW, Essen*:

They are pretty liberal with those Red Dot awards, it seems every second German kettle, office chair, or car has been awarded one - the Italian Compasso d'Oro design award is probably the most coveted in the world.

I'm sure BMW fans everywhere are pleased, but truly the S-class or even the (NEW) LS should have gotten this award. They both have far more to them as far as material, technology and design then the 3 series (In my personal opinion).
