The ONLY politics I want in this thread are those necessary and mandatory for the discussion. :/. I personally feel that *if* politics are going to directly affect my desires to own a car then I feel it is safely under "general discussion about cars"..

I'm not trying to be an annoyance here but, I do feel political discussion is fair game so long as it stays on cars . I also feel its important to point out that there is no flaming going on which is a major reason why political topics are avoided in the first place... *IF* this becomes a napalm drenched war then I can't complain if its closed or receives warning.
It wasn't directed at you, it was a general warning to everyone, since this is a topic that can easily devolve into political discussion. Hence the warning, as per the forum rules:

That I have no problem with. I have no secret political agenda involved. It is simply a political issue which directly affects my interest. I was only attempting to make sure I understood the situation and what you were saying clearly before I infringed on the rules.

That said I suppose even *if* porsche or the other companies didn't "sell" in the United States.. I could always have one imported at a little extra dinero.

I just don't think it fair to tell hot chicks they can't walk naked in public, but they can't. I just don't think it fair you can't scream fire in a movie theater for the heck of it, but you can't. The list goes on... when you live in a society with all the benefits that go with it, you also have to give up some things for the common good. So yea, get over it and deal with it. I love sports cars as much as the next guy in this forum, but am not stupid and more importantly selfish enough to want to sacrifice the environment for it.

And having said all that, I don't think sports cars are going where, 35.5 mpg or 50 mpg. There is a market for them and at least the smart companies will figure out a way to make money catering to that market, so yea, stop loosing sleep over your selfish dreams. I am not.

As long as there is money somewhere in the world there will be sportscars. In conscious parts of the world they will be a bit different from what we have today, but, then again, todays sportscars are very different from what they were 30 years ago.

I utterly detest this kind of philosophical agenda. I personally think this logic is backwards and twisted.

As stated I have no quirks with protecting the environment. :/ I have no problems social responsibility so long as social responsibility is grounded in *FAIR* and *REASONABLE* logic.

As to drug use I am *for* legalizing drugs. without getting too political I will just say that if *all* the money that was being used to fight the war on drugs were shifted to developing ways to save the environment we wouldn't be having this discussion right now. :/.

However, I would like to point out your being pretty harsh for no legit reason. I am not losing sleep over the issue.. there is a reason I am calling it a dream car and not a daydream car or a waking dream car.

For all of the situations you listed I could make a lot of good arguments for all of them. Which go beyond the scope of this post and it does get to political.

I am only going to point out that I already agree'd that I would be best off environmentally and economically using my gas saving yaris which I bought for environmental reasons back in 2006 (although its a 2007) ... i would be best off using that car to go to work and to school or where ever else.... And having a Sports Car for the weekend/nights going out. :/.

I haven't used an air conditioner or a heater for a full year because my house is poorly sealed so it would be harmful to the environment to continously run the AC in the 90 to 100 degree temp outside just to keep my house 70 degrees inside.

I make my share of sacrifices for the environment. It is partly economical reasons why I do so however, it is not purely economical. A while back our energy compnay offered "green energy" which could be bought in 100 kilowat "blocks'. Sadly paying for these blocks ment you were just supporting the environment.. *if* for that 100 kilowat block of energy.. we got even 50 kilowats taken off of our bill it would have been worth it. It would have come out to be more expensive in the long run.. however, I'd have still taken the bait every time so long as I had the cash to spare.

You can't critisize someone's desires for an environmentally unfriendly car if they are willing to make other sacrifices to save the environment which probably equates to more then your average person....

And on a personal note. Your post offends me till no end :/ not enough to warrant begging some mod to take it down or anything however, The ONLY time people use the argument "life is not fair" is if they are in some way personally benefitting.. I have never in my life seen that argument used any other way and I hate it because in all the examples you listed *SOMEONE* benefits from those laws being the way they are.... Sure I'm not on a crusade to take those things down.. but, Your crazy if you think I don't realize someone is making some cash or benefitting somewhere off of all those laws and "goods for society".

I agree with you completely man. This same retarded discussion was brought up back in the 70s. And guess what, the regulations are a lot more stricter now and yet we still have sports cars.

This is just another part of the evolution of car. The environment (regulation) changes and thus car companies are forced to adapt to them and make better cars. I'm not f__king stupid, so if you give me a choice between a 911 GT2 that does barely 20mpg vs. a 911 GT2 that does 35mpg...guess what I'll choose. Now if the regulations don't go into affect the companies will keep making what they are without advancing them.

Another thing is, before anyone comes and bitches about a F__king topic, please do some motha f__king research first. CAFE standards for MPG is very different from EPA standards. The Gov is changing the CAFE standards, which is not as strict as EPA standards.

I apologize if I offended you, was nothing personal. Just my opinion on the subject of sports cars vs environment.

I do appreciate your apology.. I wish to convey the most sincerity possible in stating my appreciation.

Without going too much into detail about anything. I will just say that I growing up over the last 20 years have hated "political correctness" with a passion even before I knew *what* it was.

To make a long story short and give the best example possible. I worked with 2 entirely different people over the last year. One was a drug addict, and the other was special.

The drug addict claimed depression and ADD. So it took them forever to fire him despite him more or less sleeping in the break room all the time.

The special person would go inside and literally let me do all the work, then take his breaks.. and come in on mine 5 minutes after I took mine and leave 5 minutes before I was suppose to.. so *I* got in trouble for it.

Thats the most recent situation in which I hate inequality. I don't care what your circumstances are when you take advantage of the system you deserve punishment like the rest of us.

Even in school for as far back as I can remember.. People took advantage of the system because they KNEW, that the teachers either A. were afraid to do anything to them or B. the teachers just got so tired of dealing with them that the teachers just gave up.

My logic on the situation is that life *is* fair. Sure those situations may not be however, unlike the people causing trouble, taking advantage of the system and all of that, I would get the better education because I don't act out, I would Get the better recommendations from my bosses because they knew they could rely on me. I would *get* the benefits of a good career and the rewards that come with it. Which is for me in one of those cases a nice sports car. Sure I'll have money either way.. but, what good is money if your not enjoying your life?
