Re: Top Gear Australia Preview

It's great that they didn't choose hosts that tried to imitate their British counterparts.
Monster, don't forget to post a link when the first episode has aired.

Looks promicing, but i doubt it will be as successful as the original Top Gear UK. Noone can be as hilarious as JC

Yeah, they said from the beginning that they are not going to find an Australian Clarkson, May or Hammond. I will post up the link after the 1st ep no worries.

It is a tough mission, the UK has a much larger budget and better facilities than the australian production, plus those so-called safety extremists and experts will definitely blast the show when it goes on-air.

Re: Top Gear Australia Preview

Ok I just saw the 1st ep of the Australian Top Gear. Well it was just mildly entertaining. It isn't a good move to start off the series by doing a review on soft off roaders while they have a brand spanking new LP 560-4 sitting inside the studio. All they did was start the engine and rev it for a few sec, and that was it.

The car reviews are ok, but it isn't that exciting or insightful, actually their review of the Maybach 57s is pretty dam pathetic. The format and the layout of the studio is pretty much exactly the same as the UK version.

The presenters are ok. One of them has an extremely annoying accent, and another one dresses like James May.

I don't know what else to say about the show, it just leave me a bit empty after watching it. So far I give it a 5.5/10. It is still too early to say if this will be a massive success or not. The preview for the season looks promising, guess we just have to wait and see.

Seems they did try to find Australian versions of Hammond, May and Clarkson

(The rest of the episode is on the poster's page.)

Not the best episode, but it was their first.
