Aston Martin Transponder Watch

In terms of performance, Aston Martin puts up a respectable fight against machines like the Audi R8 and Porsche 911. Truthfully, one of the great advantages of owning a car from the storied English brand is that when people see one, they expect a dashing, sophisticated international playboy to be behind the wheel. But, while 40 years of Bond films have been great for the brand's image, what if you're a DBS owner who doesn't quite, um, fit the Daniel Craig profile? Well don't worry, Aston can help -- bringing a little piece of 007-tech to the real world, the automaker has a new Transponder watch that's guaranteed to wow everyone from the Sunset Strip to the casinos of Monaco.
AMVOX2 DBS Transponder watch

Developed with longstanding Swiss luxury watchmaker Jaeger LeCoultre, the AMVOX2 DBS Transponder watch features a chronograph, an open outer ring revealing its inner mechanisms, a suspended metallic gray DBS symbol on the face, along with a satin finish and a black dial designed to evoke the Aston's instrument panel. However this is much more than just a luxury-car product tie-in -- like something out of Q Branch, the AMVOX2 also incorporates a miniature transmitter that owners can actually use to control their DBS from a distance. When approaching your V-12 supercar, just press the OPEN key on the watch's glass (between 8:00 and 9:00) to activate the door opening system, while a similar CLOSE position locks up when you leave. Jaeger LeCoultre also has a similar model for the DB9 (retailing for a whopping $34,000), but this is the first time the tech has been available for 007's current ride.

To ensure that the high-tech watch-key remains secure, only Aston Martin dealerships will be able to authorize the AMVOX2 to communicate with a particular vehicle. Due to be showcased on the eve of the Paris auto show this October, aspiring secret-agent DBS owners should be able to purchase one soon. But while a watch that can open your car is impressive, we hope the automaker will add some other features, like the ability to drive the car by remote, a smoke screen, or a real-time video link to MI6 headquarters. Of course, if you ever actually need any of that, chances are your car has already been fitted with a bit more high-tech equipment than just a watch-key. Check it out here.
