Took the 1er to Mosport Driver Development Track

Took the 1er to the Mosport DDT last weekend. The DDT is completely separate from the Mosport full track. The DDT is a very short, but technical track. Speeds never get that high, but there are a number of very tight corners and there are fun elevation changes which add to the fun factor. This was my first time driving on this track.

Here an in-car video from last week. I'm trying my best to keep up (somewhat unsuccessfully) with a fully prepped old yellow Subaru race car. He was one of the fastest cars out there that day.

A pic of my 1er and a friend's E46 M3.

A wide variety of cars were present:

One final pic of me on the track:

And my left front tire is now showing cords after 3 track days.......Will replace the runflats with better rubber for next season.

Looks like you had a lot of fun again. How did your BMW compare to the other cars out there, and how does it feel compare to your C55.

I think I'm faster in the 1er on tight, technical tracks. However, on faster tracks with long sweeping (fast) corners, the C55 may have an edge.

The steering "feel" is better in the 1er, especially around the centre position. Now I know what Evo meant when they talked about the steering of the C55. I think I corner faster in the 1er, especially in tight slow corners, as there is less understeer in those situations on corner entry. However, all of this is just my "feeling", as I don't have any back to back laptimes to compare.

I've been VERY happy with the 135i as a fun street and occasional track car. I'm not a pro driver by any means, but like the C55, driving it fast is easy and I always tend to be one of the faster vehicles out there in the track events I've attended so far. Almost all people who are faster tend to have R-compound tires. And the run-flat tires are better than I expected too.
