True most road work is under the responsibility of the state, so it is a state by state basis. Naturally Florida is going to have nice roads, being that the state is predominantly flat and has good weather(no snow and the salt that comes with it), which means it much easier to maintain which in turn means less money to repair and keep in shape.

You quickly learn to use the handbrake. With cars that have hill-holding feature, I bet it's much easier.

Many of the roads that pass through metropolitan areas can be bumpy; some can be very smooth. When you travel the roads in rural areas, they can be phenomenally smooth. Considering the vast network of roads that connects the cities, the majority of the roads in California are quite excellent, from my experience. Take for example Highway 1 along the coast. Or I-280 connecting Silicon Valley with SF. The roads for hundreds of miles south of the Oregon border are also incredible, smooth as the proverbial baby's bottom. And there are hundreds if not thousands of great sports car driving roads all over the state.
M-sport suspension is no problem for most of California roads, and is quite a popular option; maybe in run-down areas of LA (as in Detroit, MI, too) it could be a problem. A lot of M3's and Evo's here, and plenty of GT3's being driven daily as well.

Or just learn how to drive a stick properly. Not since I was first learning how to drive have I used the hand-break when on a steep hill, even in the snow.

Choleric, I do know how to drive a stick properly. No matter how good you think you are, you will experience rollback when creeping up this kind of hill in stop and go traffic. And that is not even the steepest street in SF.

Well I guess you couldn't have picked the worst city to drive in all of America. Los Angeles is a nightmare. I have so many friends that plan their trips to works hours and hours in advance because of traffic. Not worth it to me.

I know what you're have been through. When I lived in SoCal and rarely went up to LA, the traffic was just unbearable. The nightmare was always at around 16:00-20:00, absolute madness. Some times it took like 1.5-2 hours just to get home while I if drove home at 02:00 it took a mere 40min. What exhausted me mor was the fact that I had a manual transmission.

Easy chief I wasn't directing that comment at you. I was just speaking generally.
