They probably will, lets give them another few months for them to come up with more ridicilious ads.

O god this reminds me about their F1 ads way back in 2004 I think. This ad is on the radio, which has 2 people talking about the Toyota F1 driver team lineup, I can't remember the exact words, but this is as close as I can remember

Guy 1: ''You need a Trulli or Schumacher to win races"

Guy 2: "yes"

Guy 1: "So who is driving for Toyota this year?"

Guy 2 "Trulli and Schumacher"

This follow by some crappy tag line like "'new driver new direction"......

I swear to god I didn't make this up, other Aussie memembers support me if you guys remembers.

Completely Agree! And sometimes they are downright misleading.

About a year ago, I saw a lexus hybrid ad in newspaper with the follow line:

"Diesel Vehicles contribute to XX amount of total autobomile polution"
or something like that.

This is extremely misleading statement because it is mostly the older diesel automobiles that are doing the pollution! The new diesel vehicles are definitely clean!

But imaging an average person fell for that one when toyota tries to generalize older and newer diesel engines!

:disgusted:

They are just full of sh*t sometimes. They will get more respect from people like us if they just stop these desperate advertisements.

Toyota ran an ad not so long ago showing the Corolla melting everything surrounding its path because it is the "hottest Corolla ever"..........

Lexus sure "fools" a lot of people with their hybrids (Toyota too). It's not uncommon to have people tell me that driving a hybrid is "saving the planet" because "they're so fuel efficient".

Then when I explain to them how the hybrid system works and how a Lexus LS600h is a gas-guzzler outside of the city, the response I get is usually something like: "No, that's impossible. It's a hybrid."

Lexus markets their hybrids as fuel-efficient and low emission cars in Germany. They're being honest with the low emission part, but they're hiding a major factor when they talk about fuel economy. Never once in their ads do they talk about how the hybrid is at an advantage in urban driving. They're trying to market the car as an all-round fuel-efficient vehicle. Um, NO.

The Aurion looks pretty good though. Much more interesting and sportier than the Camry.

Well, listen to her - it looks like the propaganda works!!

"It's a little thing I'm trying to do…bla bla bla…"

Very little, in my opinion!! She should better ride a bike - the best mobile to go green!!

Lexus/Toyota surely made the RX400h sounds like the engineering miracle and the solution to all our problems, the ad has no official fuel consumption figures, or emission figures but it is the "champion of green automotive technology for tomorrow'' And people just believe that.

The Aurion Sports and the TRD version looks above average, the standard version is almost as boring as the Camry.

Great, she said she does a lot of motorway driving, which hybrid are known to be crap at, but it doesn't matter, the propaganda indeed works. She can get herself a smaller diesel car or not drive at all, she looks like she needs a bit of exercising. She should also realise that called noise is a form of pollution as well, and the Spice Girls has done their fair share of polluting.....

Re: Toyota and Lexus propaganda - 05-02-2008, 10:11 AM

Oh god..... not all this sh*t again. Another thread whinging and head-banging against Toyota/Lexus.

You people need to learn when to give it a rest. Seriously...

Amazing how biased many of you are when it comes to Toyota/Lexus. You all make it sound like every other company in the world is an angel in terms of advertising. What Toyota does is called Marketing...and it is very common to bend the truth, or be a tad misleading (especially to us car nuts who know better)...and to exaggerate truths at times... it's all part and parcel of marketing. If you didn't know this, or refuse to believe this, then you're pretty naive and must live a very sheltered life.

You all act like little kids in the school playground or 10 year old fanboys in how you all whinge and moan about Toyota. Never hear one good thing come out of any of your mouths when it comes to Toyota/Lexus, just biased-fuelled negativity. No suprise that any marketing initiatives by Toyota lead to many of you getting your panties in a bunch...but seriously guys, get over it!! So Toyota's marketing efforts rub you the wrong way, you gotta be pretty childish, stubborn, shallow, and fairly naive to actually put the effort in to create a totally new thread, find photos on the internet of Toyota models, actually take, upload and post photos of a Toyota/Lexus print ad, and then rant on and on about how you think their marketing efforts are stretching the truth and misleading.

My goodness... seriously guys, just get over it....for once....
