![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | **Problem with my car - Need advice** Guys i have a probably serious problem with my car's electronics and i definitely need your advice before taking my next step. So here it is: All this story is about some messages that appeared at the screen of the car-computer. The messages are: "Anti-Skid service required". Well Anti-Skid is an electronic that has to do with the stability of the car unter difficult sircumstances. (a Volvo technician said it to me) These messages appeared three times in two months before Christmas. All three times i contacted Volvo Assistance. The first time, i was told that it was nothing serious, and would dissappear after some minutes. And so it did. The second time, i call Volvo Assistance again and they said that if this message was up again i would have to take the car for a service. 10 minutes after the call, this messages appeared: "Anti-Skid temporarilly off" and remained there for at least three hours. Note, that when i saw that message i had just been driving for 5 minutes, for a 3 days vacation. The Volvo guy that i spoke to, via telephone, advised me to continue driving. Next week that message showed up again. I went very furious. I contacted Volvo Assistance again, and i was told the same things again. I told them, that it was the third time to see that message, and then as i was very angry i told him some bad words about the car, the money i paid and the company that he works for. Then i hunged the phone down. Since i was due to start another journey, i unloaded the S60 and with the half of my staff (well, i was really late) i left with the Clio. (trust me, a journey with a 1990 Clio 1.4 is not very pleasant) Since it was time for the first service, it took the car to Volvo. They needed no more than thee hours to check the car, replace oil and staff, and not find anything wrong with the electronics. Then i had to pay 150 euros. The service was on 20 December, i think. I was pleased not to see that dumb message for one week. Then on 29 September the message was up again. I immidiately contacted Volvo Assistance, and i was told to take the car to Volvo again. They should solve the problem. And so i did. The next morning (8 am) the car was there. I was told they reseted (like the computer) the electronics and everything should work fine. I was pleased to here that, so i tipped everyone that touched my car... Then, on 31 December i set off again for a 2-days trip, to celebrate New Year's Eve with some friends. Then on 7 January the message wasup again. That time i didn't contuct Volvo. I knew that i was so angry that i would insult them badly... I continued my trip. I returned the next day. The message dissapeared half an hour before i reached home. So, there must be something going on with the electronics of my car. At least with my car. I'm taking the car again to Volvo as soon as i find some time in the morning. But what am i gonna do? Well, at first i am going to send an e-mail to Volvo Hellas, telling them the whole story again. Next? Dad suggested that we take the car again there, have it serviced again, and see what happens. I think that i will throw some serious words to the manager and then have the car servised again. (i bet that the message will appear again) Then, yesterday, i saw a friend who works for Hyundai Hellas, at the headquarters and he told me that i send the e-mail and then go to the dealer here and DEMAND an ECU change. Or whatever is needed to change. NOTES: I don't use the S60 for in-the-city driving. For this purpose i have the Clio. I use it every Weekend usually for more-than-500km trips and for special occasions between Monday and Friday (e.g. going for coffee with friends, go to a restaurant and so on) I have never had an accident with that car (nor with the Clio). So what do you think i should do guys? Feel free to ask anything you want. But please hurry a bit. I want to take the next step as soon as possible. PS. I think that maybe i'll start a recall. Just as happend with the Renault Lagunas last year. They had a small problem with the EPS. Just like me...

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: **Problem with my car - Need advice** UPDATE: Today morning around 8 am i left my house to go to work. I checked the S60, but no message appeared. But as soon as i left the house, and went straight to the Clio parked outside, i found out that somebody had CRASHED ON MY CAR at night. Don't know how it happend, but must happend at night as the car was there from 10pm last night. Well, it's not that much damaged, but the co-driver door, doesn't fully open. Some b'stard probably crashed with his rear metal bumper (probably a track reversing ???) and damaged the metal work, around the front part of the co-driver door and a part of that under the hood part (what's the word in english). I guess it won't cost me more that 600 euros to fix it, but after all that happend to the S60 it was a strong hit in my heart...

I sent them an e-mail about the problem and two days later i received a phonecall. They asked me to described the problem, and then they told me that i could updated the car's software to a new version offered, for free i assume. The next day a guy from the local dealer phoned me and asked if i was satisfied by the service and i told him NO and some other complains i had... Anyway, if i find some time this month, i will take the car there again... I hope the update will work...

![]() | Re: **Problem with my car - Need advice** It sounds like your dealership isn't that good either. You may have an electric problem which resetting the system won't correct, as in a bad sensor or something that needs to be replaced. It could also be a more serious mechanical issue. I hope this software update just came out or else they should have told you about it a while ago. |

As for a problematic sensor, i think the car computer would know it. If the update doesn't work, the the guys here will have some serious problems. BTW, for the service, i don't go to the Volvo dealer. The volvo dealership in my city is owned by the same guy who has the Ford one and the volvo owners have to go to ford to service their cars. But ford's service is said to be good here. Not like Renault's
