I would recommend a A6 3.2 quattro. Since you experience torrential rain in your area, it may be good to have a car that sticks to the road. quattro will give you a new level of confidence taking those twisties...

One thing though, you'd better check out the ride of the A6 first, I'm not sure if it will be as cossetting as the E. On our A8 the suspension is okay, not perfect but we can live with it.

Yep, get a W211 (facelift if possible) since you love your W210. If you're interested, I got a friend who has a W211 E500 for sale....

Thanks guys, this is really really tough! and I appreciate all your help.

I was driving around in the 6-er today although a great ride, an E-class went by me and well, it's in the garage and I miss it already.

I think a good round of tests drives are in my near future and will give me good perspective ..

I did think of getting an X5 or the Q7. Also need to test drive.

For what I understand, the X5 has the feel of a sedan more than a truck, and NSL does want a truck

An S class would be cool too! Now, how does the new MB C compare to my old MB E-class?

Yikes so many choices...!!!!

Hey Yaz: can I trust buying a used car from your friend?

as far as i understand you liked the comfort of the E..and the new C with its forcus on sports will NOT be as comfortable..
but if you go with the S.. well i dont think you can travel any better way on road..
S500 with AMG package.. Wohooooooo

The new C-Class, especially in Avantgarde trim is quite sporty - and yet still very comfortable. A wonderful blend between these two ideals. Classic and Elegance trim are softer and more comfort oriented, yet when I drove the Classic C200 Kompressor it still handled very confidently but nothing on the level of the sport model.

I think your garage could use an SUV. Do you have kids?

How about a Mercedes M-Class? An ML350 or ML550 sounds alluring, doesn't it? If they ever bring over the ML320 CDI / Bluetec that would be the SUV to get.

Audi A8 just because you will never ever feel disapointed when you first enter the car. It's the Royal Audi.. and it just got a facelift (which I'm sure you allready know). It's simply perfect. Only drawback must be the size.. but Hey!.. Does size really matter ?

Or A6.. but "soon" is a Facelift so then you'll simply have to wait..

HAPPY CHOICE - CarDiva

Audi A8 is just perfect...you don't have an Audi in your garage and the A8 is an absolutely beautiful car! I think Mirage can give you some very good tips and ideas about this car!

And in my opinion an A8 isn't oversized...!!

Hi everybody!

I test drove a 750i demo with 20-inch rims.

The drive felt just like the W210, manuvering pretty similar too. The dealer was nice enough to let us drive it home and...then drawback: 8-ft wide garage...
I have less and 1 inch of room to spare on each side of the mirrors ( AAAAAAA!)

I know and SUV would be the smartest thing to do, it goes more by want than need.

We would like to ADD a SUV once we have more garages. I think NSL has his heart set on a G which is to tall to fit

Hey Ree: I don't find the A8 oversized either

DaSilva my dear, size in this case does matter

I think the Audi dealer is my next stop I hope I don't get another salesperson/jerk showing me how nice the mirror on the sunvisor is so I can put on my makeup

Thanks again for all your suggestions, it just comes to show how knowlegeable you guys are

Ok, this is the car I test drove

It's rainy/ugly today so the Audi test drive will have to wait
