I agree with that also, but some of the things you read about are just plum ridiculous.

Car fanatics are nothing compared to audiophiles. How can you spend 100k into a pair of speakers? I bet they listen to music mainly with meters.

Yes, you have every right to complain. The reason I brought this issue out is people who I would like to see back up their complaints.

I have seen people complain about buttons on cars that I have seen and there was absolutely nothing wrong. Like I hear complains about plastic buttons. Now I have seen cheap buttons like the Chevy Aveo, but the complains I have heard about MB have been totally off (Except for the old ML).

I just want to know what people expect. As long as the buttons work, don't pop out and the paint doesn't come off why is there a need to complain.

That is my question.

Refer to the post above. Thats what I mean. Complains about little things like button simply because of the material used.

There should be no complains of a plastic button unless the thing comes off or breaks.

What comes to mind is some Jaguar models using some of the same bubbly buttons that Ford uses. Don't you think that's a little wrong cosidering the price difference ?!

Siko,

I guess some people are concern with that. I personally do not care. As long as the car drives nice, nothing breaks down and it doesn't have to spend a lot of time in the shop I'm ok.

It's really nothing to complain about in my book. How much time do you actually take to look at the buttons on your car? Seriously?

It's a really small amount of time that really should not concern the average driver.

Now I have driven a car where the car lock button came off and there was just a screw. NOW THAT IS SOMETHING TO GET UPSET ABOUT. But because it looks like a ford button in a Jaguar is not something I'm going to complain to all my friends about and write to Jaguar stating my disbelief.

Thats all I am saying, but everyone has there own opinion.

Ahh, but HighestOfHigh, you just said it yourself. Everyone has a different view of what's 'good' and what's 'bad'.

Frankly, I think what you're confusing is subjective opinion with actual quality issues. The quality in a car (whether that be a Mercedes-Benz, an Audi or even a Lexus) can be superb and people can still have the impression an interior needs higher quality plastics and what-not. That doesn't mean they are expecting gold-plating though.

Suffice to say, it's very hard to answer this question when all of us have such different tastes and expectations.

Much time actually. Nothing is perfect, but I still have expectations.

It doesn't concern the average driver, but we aren't 'average', the majority of us are extreme enthusiasts!

You are entitled to you're opinion, but I don't understand why anyone wouldn't complain when their $70,000 Jaguar shares parts with a $20,000 Ford. While It's not uncommon for manufacturers to share parts between brands, I expect an extra degree of quality when purchasing the more expensive brand.

Uh Oh, but then again who can say a button from a ford would even be considered a quality issue.

Now immitation wood vs. real wood is more of an issue. Right?

I mean when it comes down to it people will debate this until the end of time.

I just come from the stand point of if it doesn't break, I could care less.

I just see no point crying over a button because it similar or the same to a company that actual owns the company I just brought the car from.

I personally think people expect to much. I think Benz would loose a lot of money if they tried to fill everyones expectation.

I bet soon someone will complain about the new S-class, button soon. Which would be completely stupid if you ask me. You could not ask for better parts then what the new one offers. And actually I saw nothing wrong with the old one either.

Who knows...... What really defines quality? Or is it a matter of people expecting way too much?

Well I'm an extreme enthusiast (Benz Only) as well, but I am more concern if the car is running, can it get me from point A-B, is the wood real, leather real, and how does it look.

I just feel like wasting my time running my fingers over the button thinking "Oh what a joy". It really doesn't matter to me. A Benz is a Benz and a Rolls-Royce is a Rolls-Royce. As long as they run and show everyone that I'm the ___! I'm happy.

Why complain? Jaguar has been loosing money. I can blame them for not getting new buttons.

Really Bruce? Why be concerned? Thats what I want to know. What is better buttons really going to do for you in the long run.

Thats what I want to know from you all.
