Re: Younger buyers heading for BMW and Audi over Mercedes

Im young (I think), I could see me driving new C-class or any AMG model (except R63), thats the benz I wouldnt mind driving in. My friend drive a C43 AMG, even old AMG are fun to drive imo.

Yeah it is that bad to have older buyers... younger buyer will buy more cars from you as long as you can ensure brand loyalty since a) they are younger and more likely will live/drive longer and b) older drivers tend to change cars less frequently. So in terms of business, it's a bad thing.

Re: Younger buyers heading for BMW and Audi over Mercedes

Older buyers are good in the sense that they spend most money a car. While a youngster will buy a 318i with barely any options an older buy will opt for a E500 with panoramic roof, satnav, key-less-go, heated front and back seats and a full leather designo interior. Older buyer are most profitable.

True... but what are you going to do when a huge chunk of the old population drops off (i.e. baby boomers) with no younger drivers in the pipeline?

Young buyers are very important too and IMO they are just as important as old buyers.

Yes and no… it’s all about demography and population dynamics. As a result there are periods when one segment is important than the other. But overall in the grand scheme of things I agree with you 100%... besides having both buyers is always the best thing!

That was my point all along! No car company wants to be labled as young or old, that's a tuff thing to shake!
