![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Police car crashes with a train Happend here in Sweden. A policecar was chasing a BMW and didnt notice the train coming. One of the cops died and the other one is seriosly hurt. The force is brutal. Nothing much left of the car. The train split the car in two parts. ![]() ![]() |

![]() | Re: Police car crashes with a train I think it would be better for them - in hindsight, but not saying that they were incompetent - to be a bit more cautious when chasing the bad guys. But who knows how this one came about, and we all make mistakes. This one just turned out badly. There has been debate here about whether police should be allowed to give chase. Supposedly police in Sydney have strict guidelines about when they should give chase, and when to call it off. However, it has been alleged that many do not follow these guidelines and get caught in the moment, and that at various times the offenders, the police, and also bystanders have been hurt (such as from colliding with the fleeing offenders). Many think that it would be better if the police were only to be able to give chase at 'normal' speeds, and once things got 'dangerous' then the chase would be called off. Sometimes if you get their registration then you can track them, but that's mainly for less organised crime and for drunk drivers and such. That doesn't work for stolen cars, which are often involved in thefts. It would be silly if all criminals had to do to escape was to accelerate beyond the speed limit. Conversely, it could probably be said that many police are not adequately skilled to give chase, and when driving should be willing to subject to greater monitoring and supervision by other uninvolved officers, at least. The police have to make sure they are still a reasonably potent force for them to have any deterrent effect and also respect from the community. I am in favour of them giving chase. However, in this case it wasn't for the best. |

But witnesses say it was a red bimmer with green rims so it was probably an old bimmer. The red bimmer passed the train by seconds. The train noticed the policecar too late, he didnt even had time trying to slow down the train. |
